Renting - try before you buy.

We hired through hire buddies. They seem to be a broker type company. Where private owners can rent out their vans. As far as I can remember. We could enter what we wanted in a van and the site came up with a list of available vehicles. Luckily for me the one we chose was about a mile and a half away from our house.

We paid about £800 for 2 weeks hire

Since then the value of the pound has dropped 20%, and the cost of hire has gone from €80 to €115 per day.
But that is still a load cheaper than the UK

We hired several years ago, it was a good experience, the MH we hired turned out to be EVERYTHING we didn't want.

Too low power, manual gearbox, bed over the cabin, too small water tank etc, etc,etc.....

About a year after we went to the NEC show and chose the van we wanted, some years later (this year) we looked again and although we had a much bigger budget we chose exactly the same van.

That weeks hire was a fantastic learning curve and something I'd advise.

As with any hire vehicle, take loads of photos before signing the hire agreement, wash it before taking it back, and take more photo's. Pay for all risk insurance and use a good credit card for payment, never sign anything your not 100% happy with.

Again hiring experience tough me, live in the hire van off grid. accidentally we parked on a site but didn't book EHU, and no water supply (just ignorance) the shower ran out of water when I was covered in soap, and the battery died in the evening, lesson learned at minimal expense.
