Next summer we plan to fly to Bilbao/Pamplona area and hire a camper for 7/10 days.

I've seen a huge variation of prices.
Price isn't important really, as getting the ferry over is stupid money.

Most important thing is a reliable company who won't hit us with loads of hidden extras coz we're taking the dog.
Any recommendations?

TIA

Don’t know about rentals but will it really be cheaper than taking the van by ferry? We do the Santander trip by ferry quite often and the return works out to a bit more than £1k. You may find that flights plus van hire cost even more than that?

We get 75% discounts on flights.
Also we don't have a camper at the moment, so would be driving our car and camping.
We're meeting a pal from France who has a camper so we'll be using sites

The best place in Europe to rent motorhomes is Germany.

There are a number of major companies, you will get the widest choice and the cheapest prices.
We used DRM. Who by the way, have Motorhome rental arrangements with companies in Spain

We met several Brits who drove their car or flew to Düsseldorf to pick up their rental motorhome to then drive to Spain or Italy and then back to Germany to pick up the car and drive home.

(If you take the night ferry with a cabin Harwich/Hook of Holland, Dusseldorf is about 3-4 hours from the port, so going via Germany does not cost you any extra days of holiday, and a car on the ferry is a lot cheaper than a motorhome)

Apparently it was half the price of hiring in the UK, and the UK spec hire vans were 'crap' in comparison.

So to go to Spain in a motorhome, it may be cheaper and easier to get a flight from Lanzarote to Dusseldorf and drive down !!!!

I know it's Germany, not Spain but we spotted this in Aberdeenshire this summer.....
