Has anyone here had their Ducato engine remapped?
If so, has it made a difference, either to power or consumption?
Has it had any adverse effects?
Would you recommend having it done?

We have a 6-speed manual 2.3 litre 130bhp btw.

There are lots of possible causes of a holed piston. But on diesels, over fuelling is a common cause. That could be from a faulty injector that's jetting in too much fuel all the time, or it could be a really bad remap.
a few years back peugeot did a big recall, because the fueling map that vans with the ford puma engine were blowing holes through the engine block

I agree that when the clutch is coupled there is usually less stress. However the OEM fiat clutch is too small and the plastic fingers disintegrate. I had one grenade on me with a previous van. The mechanic showed me the bits of clutch he took out and reckoned it was common on some van variations

Does remapping have any implications on insurance cover / premiums?

We had our Ducato remapped about 6 years ago. A lot better torque but no noticeable improvement with MPG. Notified Insurance company who noted it on our records but it made no difference to our premium

Has anyone used projectremaps for this, or Pendleton performance? Thinking of getting my Ducato 130 multijet done?

For my 2002 Hymer with the 2.8 JTD engine I had a remap which improved driveability.
I was told that at that time the van engines were mapped for countries with poor quality fuel so a very pessimistic and conservative mapping.
I don't know if that applies to more modern engines.

Had mine remapped by Quantum last Monday and it’s made a huge improvement in performance and around 10% in fuel economy. Went from 147BHP to 180 BHP
