Considering an IVECO based Motorhome but the 2022 one I was looking at has just gone off to have its airbags replaced and has already required a wheel bearing. Trustpilot review of IVECO is pretty damming.
I’d be grateful for anybody’s experience of IVECO.
Thank you in anticipation

Basically it’s the “go to” chassis for any van nudging 7.5t they can even go to 8.25t apparently but that seems silly to me, when the chassis is spec’d and modified by the likes on Meier who do all the prep work for MORELO or by Concorde who do their own it becomes a bespoke think that can include full air suspension Telma retarder etc etc.

Re the Agile I think it was the clutch pack that caused most of the issues Jon, but I could be wrong 😏
The early zf,s had problems too

Re-agile problems Carpmart i remember he dare not drive the van it took almost a year to sort the gear box problem and a small fortune he spent more time on the roadside than a gypsy.
It turned out to be a faulty ECU in the end, but did take some sorting out.

Yes I know that the early ones had a potential problem with the torque converter drive plate but don’t know about anything else, that’s why it’s not always good to be an early adopter,

Early adopter = quality control 😁

They was also a oil pipe connector that fails from the gearbox to the oil cooler and sometimes the cooling fan is wired the wrong way around causing temperature problems according to my Iveco tech pal

The thing is though look at Fiat - number one converters choice for how many years? In the 2000s we had the top gears failing, then we had juddergate, then comfortmatic and now some issues appearing with the 9 speed apparently requiring them to turn the power down.

I also had 2.3 180bhp 9 speed auto 23000 miles in under 4yrs no problems apart from new steering knuckles and dpf sensor on recalls 😁

I can remember replacing 5th gear on 1980 s Citrone c24 Talbot express and early Ducatos the gearbox did not really change much in 30 years
We should have all stuck with Sherpa Commer and Austin J4 vans much better 🙂🙂

The great thing about the commers was that they were so heavy to drive that it made you much stronger to push them

It seemed like a year, but was in reality only a few months! 😉

Also, it’s a tad unfair to blame it on the Agile gearbox as Steve points out, was an ECU issue manifesting as gearbox issues. 🤪

The thing the agile has over the comformatic is that it’s Electro Mechanical and not Hydro Mechanical. The Agile actuators are on the side of the gearbox and doesn’t require gearbox out to replace. Additionally, longitudinal mounted engines, as Iveco is, usually affords easier working than transverse. ✔️

I also reset the front torsion bars and fitted some custom shockers also run at 4-4.5bar pretty good drive now 2018 60C
Our first Iveco was a 50C on a Carthargo and was not a good drive compared to the 60C
Out of interest, did your 50c have air suspension front and/or back?

Ours has Goldschmidt on the front (usually at about 4.5bar) and standard Iveco in the back.

I've nothing to compare with, but handling seems fine (hgvs going past, it hardly deviates), and despite many roads being a series of potholes over here, doesn't seem too 'crashy'.

There’s a rude anagram if you add a few letters to * * * * IVECO * * but I’m much too polite to print it in full. 🤭😳😱

Our 50c was just rear air, I had just ordered front when a 60c came along the same model with 2.5k miles on it so changed that. Is air front and rear but still benifited by fitting better dampers all round

The one we bought would have been perfect on a 60c (which was an option) Front axle weights are near the limit. Need to lose weight anyway!

I must have a closer look at the front... On a more cursory inspection, seemed to be full air on the front with no damper. I'm probably wrong! 🤣

Thanks for the reply!

Air assist on the front and definitely has dampers or it would be very bouncy 🙂👍

I would challenge that given the terrible performance and reliability of the Iveco Agile Semi Automatic Gearbox it was shockingly bad with a multitude of issues. It was replaced with the ZF Box which I found an absolute dream to drive.
I am quite liking the Concordes with a garage, seems so many are RHD and or no overcab bed.

I like the idea of the Garage for a Fiat 500, LHD, Overcab bed and 4 seat belts. But only with a decent gearbox.

I would think the 3.0 Iveco may be a bit underpowered

Of course, you're quite correct.

It's a bit down the line yet to think about replacing, but need to go hunting the pile of receipts for any clue when the current ones were installed.

Mine were only 2.5k miles also 2 1/2 years old when I changed them even Denise said what a difference! So must have been worth it 👍 you are welcome to have a ride/drive of ours (insurance pending) just before the MHF police jump in🤣

Planning on doing GB this coming summer, but might have them changed by then, given your recommendations.

Thanks for the offer!

Need to hunt the receipts, but likely could do with changing.

Did the launch control and nitrous upgrade get your 0-60 time less than 20 minutes? 😱🤣

Not sure if I'm insured to drive high performance motorhomes!

I'm pretty sure you wont find one that will carry a fiat 500 under 7500 . And having a smart garage on an Iveco chassis is really pushing the technical limitations. IMHO your better off trailering it.

Some 4 cyl MANs are genuinely under 7500kgs.

I’m very happy with the improvements the Marquart shocks have made to my Iveco. (Ordered based on Steve’s experience 👍🏻)
Marquart were good to deal with, and the dampers definitely helped in combination with getting the torsion bars right (although I think they still need a further tweak). I haven't driven one of the new chassis with the active jobbies yet to know how they compare.

I’ve got the Iveco 70c21 Morelo (manual gearbox) with a smart in the back and it pulls like a train up and down the Italian mountains, never feels underpowered 👍

I think the older ones pull better than the new ones, we have friends with a Concorde on the chassis before ours so pre 2019, with a Smart in the back and it pulls better than ours 😏
