Recording tv/films for playing on Avtex TV

Stick or Hard Drive which is best??
We have Panasonic and LG Tv’s and Panasonic recorders all of which can take a stick or hard drive I believe. We have Avtex TV in the van. Are there format problems? What do you use please?
Can I ask what format the usb stick should be to play. Mine are ex-Fat but I'm guessing they should be Fat32

If it helps, our WD Elements 4tb usb drive plays mkv files through the van's Cello tv and it's formatted to NTFS.

We still have our old 2TB external Hard drive with 100's of films on it from the old Pirate Bay days, used with a Sumvision Cyclone media player.
Tend not to watch much TV when away but if we have a rainy day we have more than enough to choose from.

We use an old laptop 1TB HD in a caddy case.
Our late model Samsung TV doesn't seem to have any problems reading all kinds of format's but we did have to use the Cyclone on our old TV .

This is a potentially useful thread that would be more so if funsters would say what model AVTEX tv they have plus what model of bolt on solutions like streaming boxes. It all helps to understand what is otherwise quite puzzling to some, myself included. I'm still trying to work out how to get iPlayer content on to the TV from the iPad or laptop and so far have discovered that on my Avtex L188DRS, Google Chromecast does not seem to work as an intermediary.

Inspired by the OP, I finally succumbed to actually reading the manual which sheds a little more light on USB connections (including the fact that there are two - who knew???). If this link works, here's the info:

In the meantime, when it cools down a bit later in the day and the van is no longer like one of those torture boxes you see in old war movies about Japanese POW camps, I might get around to setting the TV up to try further experiments with my new found knowledge.

Thanks. I’ve sorted it by making the usb stick MS-DOS (FAT32) and it plays from the usb 2 on my L219DRS PRO. Result 😊

We have a 2Tb hard drive velcroed on the back of our Cello TV with several hundred films from my dvd/bluray collection in case we want to watch anything while away which is rarely.
