Recommendation for Flag poles

It's a bit sad that posts such as this are met with such negativity, why do people need to reply if they are not helping the OP? Ah well, I found this thread whilst looking for a new pole so Martin59 did you find a good supplier / deal?

Thanks

By far the best ones are 'Forecourt Flag poles' (google it)
They are used by car dealers and the like.

Proper telescopic aluminium 40mm tube up to 5m in height.
Can fly flags, feathers, vertical banners, spinners or lights.
They have the plastic wishbone base that you drive a wheel over and then no wind is going to blow over your flag pole.

Thanks, my search brought up half a dozen sellers. They are mostly semi-permanent though, with a price to match (c£100-£300) which is a bit steep just for rallies and the like. Interesting though.

Our local Scout group 'procured' two of them about 15 years ago.
They are still in weekly use, and get taken on camp every summer, still in working order despite years of abuse by Scouts.

I've got two. One was made bespoke and is sectional stainless steel. It fits on my tow bar and is never going to go anywhere due to high wind etc, although you can hear it slightly if the wind is strong. I've even 'convoyed' with the pole on the van and a flag, though I keep it lower when doing that. It was made specifically because I wanted to be able to easily fly a flag/fly flags when the van is on a hard surface. When packed up it fits in a fishing rod bag. Only downside is that it's heavy!

The other one is a 6m flexible 'pole and stake' affair which I bought 9 years ago from Life's a Breeze. Still going strong although I've annoyingly lost the little screw in bit which keeps it all together when packed up.

I think the most readily available are Spirit of the Air, I've got a couple for use with my radio stuff and they are fine for that. However, the stake they sell is fibreglass and only really works in soft ground.
