Re-registering abroad, anyone done it?

Just me being noisey... how did you do this? Did you sit a written test + driving test or was it just a paper given to you?

Nope, just V5, passports, proof of residence and photos. He filled French form for us. Took about 5 minutes and we were issued temporary licences.

Why did they need your V5 for a licence change Ken ?

@Munchie @elamessa @laneside ????? Do you have a french licence? Have you been told to have one?

Lynda and I have applied to Nantes for a French driving licence but as has been said it could take six months.

I contacted M. Boullet by email, and he replied saying that he could do it for me, but he gave me a list of documents that would be required, some of which I do not have, nor do I have any idea where I would get them. For example:

Certificate of partial conformity from the constructor.
Justification of conformity on the points stated as non-conforming by the constructor
Certificate of compliance with the standards EN 1949 EN EN 721 EN 1646-1

:(

Whoops thinking of our old van! No just UK licence. I chose to drop my 7.5te and just get 3.5. paper French licence issued for life!
I thought not lol At this rate our licence will be for 1 year if we are lucky !! We sent if the medical pass cert for our 7.5 so only 2 years ! Six months to get it then if u want it back before it expires then send for renewal 6 months before lol

OK . I'll try to help you but I'll need a little time as I have just been flooded ! Firemen came to help us out . I had 2 children still at home (@JJ Little Rosie was with me too!), no way for the parents to reach us. The water level is slowly getting down. The first pic is usually my garden, now a lake! Quite a lot of damages. I've managed to save the car , I got it on a step so the engine had a chance to be kept out of the waters. Having had an ill baby all day , I must say I'm KO!
IMAG0697.jpg

I'm off for the week end too. So on Monday we'll have a good look at all this , and if we need more info I'll give him a call. Is it alright with you like this?

That’s great, Frankie, thanks. Take care.

Steve

The engine part, the basis that is! Ford? Chrysler? I can't see the pic properly
It's a Chevrolet Express Van , built in the USA, then converted by Roadtrek in Canada. It was a personal import (by the owner before me) direct to the UK from new. Roadtrek have never officially exported their motorhomes to Europe, and I don't think Chevrolet have ever exported the Express to Europe either.

Hi Folks

My two pennyworth

I brought a UK LHD Burstner to France and re-registered it here. The only real problem I had was with Burstner as it took about four months for them to send me the CoC, despite having my cheque for €300. I have since obtained a French driving licence in the "Euro" format (back card size, plastic covered) with all the original classes on it - grandfather rights. However, that was all before the loss of the local prefecture offices.

Since then I have registered a 1 tonne trailer, built around 1988. As part of that process I had to have it tested by DREAL. @mikethebike147 The present incumbent is (or was) Alain Boquel.
Address DREAL Nouvelle-Aquitaine - SDIT - DTRV - UCV(87)
22 rue des Penitents Blancs
CS53218
87032 Limoges

There is a public weighbridge in Limoges

Bascule Municipale - rue Archimède, 87000 Limoges tel 05 55 30 86 95
GPS 45.815235N, 1.260264E

They use(d) some facilities at a commercial vehicle workshop for the inspection and testing. I saw a Dutch-registered caravan there before me and a Swiss-registered VW followed on after me

I hope this helps.

John

Good morning @yodeli have you any further news for me about my problem? Thanks

Hi!

Haven't you read my post?

Have you been to the Mairie for your address? Everything else is to be sorted by Mister Boullet. Read back. Then send me your email address. And then try to sort out your address. I can't do anything about your address. Apart from that you will have all you need, no prob!
Away all week end, so you'll tell me if you managed something on Monday ok? :)

Hello again @yodeli
Sorry but the post you replied about the Mairie etc has not appeared here on my view of the forum. Please send it to me.
If you could write to me direct that would be great:
mikezeehandyman@gmail.com
But here is the basis of the tricky bit that I am hoping Mr Boullet will be able to sort out.
I live in the UK for 6 months and in France for 6 months. Of course I am 'resident' in the UK, but for the last 6 years I have owned a mobile home on a lovely rural site in the Limousin called Camping Les Vigeres. The owner of the site has been there for 25 years or more and is English. I don't have any of the normal proof or residency such as utility bills etc but the owner is quite happy to give me an 'attestation' which will state that I live there and have done so since July 2012. He says that they will accept that in order for me to register the vehicle in France. I hope that is the case. I bought this LHD Hymer purely to keep in France and don't want to take it back to the UK.
The other question is the CofC, I am not sure if I am meant to have one in English due to it's being re-registered in UK, it was first registered in Germany.
We are away also, after so much hard work we are finally getting away for a break, hoping to get down to Provence. We are in Cahors tonight.
Hope to hear from you on Monday.
Thanks

Hi

Just called the prefecture and they don't know as they are not involved anymore with the "carte grise delivery"

So I have 2 e-mails to send in which I will ask whether the camping letter is enough.

I should be able to do it today BUT of course I have no idea on how long it will take them to answer.
In anycase I will let you know ASAP.

Will do my best to convince them , and won't tell them you intend to stay 6 months/ year. Better do as if you were meant to stay for a longer time otherwise they won't bother. Also I might open a door for other English people willing to do the same.

Amicalement
Frankie:)

I had another email from Mike with different papers he could give to the carte grise service as evidences of his residence in France.
He lives in a camp site and could get from the owner an "attestation" of residence , and invoices including electricity clearly mentionned on them.

Here is the result of my searches according to these news elements.
I made a copy on here of my email to him so that anyone wanting to re register can find the right answers to their questions.

Hi Mike !

GOOD NEWS!

I had the service of "carte grise" on the phone and I have all the answers you need

1) Your camping "attestation" of residence from the owner is perfect + the invoices of the last three months at the time you will ask for your carte grise. So DREAL first by all means and then once you are ready for the carte grise then make sure you do have the last 3 months invoices.

2) you need to be registered on this official french site : France.connect with either

a) A french income tax number
OR
b) A social security recording number
OR
c)An Orange account .....
I have been on France.connect , and din't find this last possibility. So will send a request to the site to know why.

NOW , this is where it is interesting, if you have none of these 3 cases, you can ask a french person to do it, via his/her own number. This person will have to precise "I'm doing this for another person".

If you know people around you who can do this then fine!
If not, I can do it for you. But don't forget that I'm far away and if any problem to sort out it will be more difficult.

If you're not too much in a hurry , give me some time to find out why I can't find the "orange account" possibility. In my opinion it will be much easier for you to have your own connexion settings (password and all). May be you could also consider registering with National Health service if not done already.

THEN register here:
https://www.eplaque.fr/infos/comment-ouvrir-un-compte-france-connect

ASA you've read this, tell me what you decide to do.

Amicalement
Frankie:)

OK found out these 2 links !
Sorry I can't do it all today as toddlers are being horrid! They fight and yell, can't keep my brain working properly!

So here is a youtube link to register on mobile connect which seems to be the sesame

And then from Mobile connect you can register on France connect. Of course you need to have an orange mobile contract. But you can just have it for a few months then once you're sorted.... you just drop it!

https://www.orange-business.com/fr/...chit-d-une-nouvelle-solution-d-identification

Try to see if you can sort out the whole translation with google translation, if you can't let me know , I will try to find some time to do it.

Or may be @stcyr ?? Tu peux faire ça? De toutes façons avec toutes les demandes d'aide que tu as, ça te servira aussi! Merci !!!:D

OHOOOO YESSSSS! But only if you have no COC (Certificate of Conformity) and are then asking for a "réception à titre isolé" It's what Mr. Boullet does for foreign (imported) motorhomes.

Frankie, many thanks found a link that said no paperwork is issued by uk you just need to send part of the V5 registration document to UK DVLA saying you are exporting. It also appears if he registers in France the will inform the UK he has done so. Will send link, many thanks
Geoff

@klaatu

Hi just to let you know I'm not forgetting you but Mister Boullet had an e-mail from me on the 14th of June, asking for a few details/explanations, I still had no answer. I will wait just a few days more as I know he's overbooked, then will give him a call.

May be
@stcyr will know what it'll all about... ???? Une idée??

Certificate of partial conformity from the constructor.
Justification of conformity on the points stated as non-conforming by the constructor
Certificate of compliance with the standards EN 1949 EN EN 721 EN 1646-1

@yodeli

Here is the original French from M. Boullet asking for the things I need to supply. It seems I don’t supply that EN 1949 etc document, he gives that to me.

I don’t think I will be able to get these things, I think I will have to try to sell the motorhome somehow.

NOTICE DESCRIPTIVE DU VEHICULE (barree rouge)
elle sera envoyée avec l'attestation de conformite partielle du constructeur du porteur

@yodeli
Hi Frankie I have also emailed M Bullet yesterday and also tried to telephone a few times but no answer.i am not in a hurry as due to child minding duties we would not be able to vist him before the end of August. I was hoping to send him photos of documents I already have and find out if there is anything missing. We have found a campsite not far from him. From there we are going to tarragona for a few weeks, just a question if he completes the paperwork do we have to visit dreal in Limoges. The problem for us is we are 650km away in the car.
Kind Regards
Alan
