We have an American RV that we have recently bought new LED lights for. Husband has today removed the first light from the ceiling, changed the lighting innards and then tried to screw the lighting unit back up. Unfortunately none of the 4 screws would hold. He believes there is only polystyrene/foam on the other side of the vinyl celling and the foam is no longer holding the screws.

Anyone got any experience or suggestions as to how to solve this problem please- as I have a very unhappy husband!

Many Thanks

Get some of the smallest plastic wall plugs you can find, ones that will push gently through the hole, and use them.

Depends how much depth you've got to work with but have you tried plugging the existing screw holes with matchsticks & gorilla glue. Make sure it can't drop out onto anything more than last week's newspaper while glue is setting then screw straight into it.

..and take the match heads off first!

You will have aprox 1" of polystyrene and the ply will be 3mm
If the light is round you could spin it round a bit and make new holes if not the match sticks are the way to go
If you sin it round make a note of where the wires are in the cieling and dont screw them
