rb panel van conversion begins !

or Ambulance just a fold out bed and make sure the heatings working :)Now that sounds more cosy :D
I prefer the sound of that Terry. (y) In fact, I'd might not be inclined to convert it at all. ;)

Cheers,

Jock.

Now porta potti that's something I never thought about :DI may have to buy one for the Caddy -that should prove interesting seeing that you crawl about in the van :D

I went to the van sales yesterday and bought a ambulance on the knock of the hammer and a 2009 lwb relay provisional-When I went to pay it turned out both were provisional so today I am waiting for a phone call to say I have both hopefully (y) It will be a few weeks before we can make a start on either but if the relay comes I will stick in some insulation and a fold out bed for Whitby ;) or Ambulance just a fold out bed and make sure the heatings working :)Now that sounds more cosy :DEither way I will be in something -Watch for the blue lights

Thanks, I never thought about it getting black. I did it more for draughts . I've used clear re enforced duck tape over the holes so the veltrim doesn't sag. Ive also filled with sheeps wool where I can , in awkward to reach places. But of course left it clear of the light electrics. I shall cover any open holes now you've said with the duct tape. Then I can always cut it out to replace bulbs.

Well the lighter nights and a couple of early finishes have given me a chance to finish the insulation and lining of the back doors (y)
I am just waiting on my screw caps to come and the jobs complete.
For the self builders out there i contacted Screw Caps uk and they sent me out a sample pack. I never new you could get so many colors IMG_5470.JPG

Here is a few pictures of the finished doors.....

You are doing a great job, I'm loving watching this evolve from my armchair!

Don't know if you've seen this on Vantages rear doors? Stops any draughts.

Haha yes we have. I think there's the same pic earlier on the thread page 4.
We are going to do exactly the same thing.(y)

We came very close to buying a Vantage Neo, they are lovely vans, with really well thought out details, like the door seal, caddy box and the socket tower in the kitchen.

Looking good Ralph (y)Lighter nights make a big difference to things -All it needs now is to warm up a bit :D

Hi,
I think you are doing a great job and I am following this thread with great interest. I you need any info on what Magnum Mobiles can offer or need something specced up from them, just let me know as they are only round the corner from me and Kenny Carter the owner is really helpful.

Ralph & Bev,

If I am honest, I'm not really into PVCs, but I have to say that I am enjoying following your progress, and viewing the "before" and "after" images, and it's all looking very professionally done too.
Great stuff. (y)

Cheers,

Jock.

Thanks very much for that (y)
I have actually been using them for bits and pieces. Before i started the build i spent an afternoon with Terry and this is one of the companies he recommended to me.

At the moment i am working in Cleethorpes so its very handy to pop in on my way home (y)
Your right about Kenny as well very helpful guy.

Thanks for your comments.....Ralph

Hi Jock, I appreciate they are not for everyone. I think it depends on what type of motor-homing you do. If you like to go to Spain for three months at a time and just park up then i personally wouldn't be going down the PVC route either.
We like to get to the out of the way places and explore a bit, these areas tend to have narrow winding roads. We also like to move around a lot and just feel the narrower easier to drive van will suit us now and in the future (y)

Hope to catch up with you somewhere this year and you can have a proper look.

Thanks for your positive comments Jock (y)

Absolutely Ralph. (y)
Sallytrafic (Frank & Doreen) went around the coast, but couldn't have done it in a MH larger than a PVC.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

You tell him Pat !
Sat bloody relaxing while I'm asleep in bed ! Soon went out side once he heard me getting up for work !

On a serious note , I just don't want him burning himself out.
He's been travelling to Cleethorpes and back , from Wakefield , everyday this week to repair on a substation.
Then spending an hour or more in Pug on a night , plus every weekend. He says it's not like work , he's enjoying doing it too. I know he'll still be hard at it , in Pug , when I get home at 6.15 pm tonight . At least he's got some of my left over meat n tattie pie to ping for his dinner !
I must say he's doing a cracking job. Can't fault it. Even close up.

That's better, proper demarcation, Ralph builds, Bev types up the blog.

I know what he means in it "not feeling like work", doing something so rewarding is always a pleasure, but it is still hard work both mentally and physically, I am sure as Clerk of Works, Bev will keep a check on burnout.

Anyway enough of this procrastinating by me - I better get out and on with my own little job.

i envy ralph when i did ours i virtually lived and breathed motor home for 3 months i could juggle sizes of fridges hobs and sinks in my head and dreamed about water heaters and carpeting
but i thoroughly enjoyed every minute no its not like work its a feeling of achievement

I missed your last few picture posts - wow - doing a grand job fella, if you aren't already you should be feeling really chuffed with how its going so far... (y)

This is true, though she only has one bed:blush: .
But you've given me an idea, now. Mark and Tracey have a huge van , plenty of room

Hi Ralph and Bev

you know I will share my van any time as long as there is beer involved. we will have to shove you up on the top bunk:eek:

Another weekend another update.....
Saturday was a better day managed to cut out and fit two of my three roof lights (y)
After some more forward thinking i went for it and cut out the roof and fitted the Midi Heki.
I chose this one as its long and narrow and will just sit nicely above the rear seating area.
The light is finished of really well and has a small chrome handle which you turn to open and close it.
I say its nice but its not until you start shopping for something like this that you realize how expensive they are this one cost £459  I could be done cheaper with the Mini Heki for around £95.

The second one i fitted is the Fantastic Vent 3350. I had this shipped from the USA as i was struggling to get a double skinned dome in the UK.
Anyone with the Endless Breeze fans will know how powerful they are, add this to a roof light with forward and reverse and you have an effective way of controlling the temperature inside the van (y)
This new model can be thermostatically controlled and has a rain sensor which closes the lid...Happy days turn on and go to the pub... no worries :)

Sunday was not as productive as i hoped what with showers all day and snapping my last jigsaw blade costing me valuable time and a trip to Screwfix. Any way i got the toilet cassette door opening cut out, a real pain to do as it has to go at van floor level which brings me 30mm down into the external plastic side skirt very fiddly to cut a job for the Dremel. It was too wet to fit the door so that will be next weekend.
I will post some pics when complete.
Above the driver and passenger seats is a very useful storage compartment i managed to finish off insulating and lining this between showers (y)And that's another weekend gone....Back to work now ;)

Thanks again for looking.....Ralph
