Rats !!!!

Alternate the poison , put the blue/green down one day, and the Red poisoned Corn the next time and so on

Get the good stuff from a Farmer Supplier, Mole Valley Farms etc.

We have problems with rats in the chicken run. Went to buy some more poison a couple of months ago and was told the suff we have buying for years is now banned for sale to public. Can't get anything off the shelf now that works.

One thing with a trap is you can actually see if you’re killing them and not just hoping

I used to be able to get Neosorexa gold. But that now needs a Licence. We have chickens next door to us, which I suspect is the "attraction". Currently trying Link Removed Can be got from Amazon. will know by next week if it works.

I use this company https://www.pest-expert.com/rat-poison-28-c.asp After years of experience I find the blue grain bait the best results in two to three days normally I find rats are so ill on day two they lose all fear and sir there waiting for you to shoot them

They banned sales of full strength difenacoum (the blue one generally) and bromodialone (red), etc., a while back. You’ll need to do a course to become a certified pest controller in order to buy it. I did the course and it was well worthwhile, despite the hassle.

Use these on the farm work brilliantly and no worries about poison or having to be around.

Working on the patio slabs today. There's an air brick at the bottom of the wall but no mortar in the vertical joint below it.
Something caught my eye.... A field mouse poked it's nose out the crack. Shot back in but a few minutes later it reappeared, nose then head then the whole mouse.
It got a shock when it came back, the slab was 6" lower and it couldn't reach the hole.. .. It tried climbing but fell off the wall.
No idea where it went after that.

What's in there to kill them /cost ?

According to the blurb there is a leaf trigger which operates a CO2 pressured piston which knocks them on the head then resets its self advert reckons 24 operations per CO2 cartridge

I bought 2 from the shooting show at about £200 with extra bait tablets and co2 bulbs, 24 hits per bulb it’s a pneumatic rod that hits them, very effective and it can be moved around without leaving dead poisoned rats for the dogs to pick up around the yard.

Have been under the bonnet in m/h and car. Have been putting poison down and they have been eating and coming back for more.Put traps bated as well.I need a poison that works...
Any info appreciated.
I use a small piece of sponge soaked well in milk. Normally about 2" square and placed so that hedgehogs can't reach it. The rats and mice love it and never come back for more.

I can hire you my "hit squad".. They have some spare time while not at school. (y);)

blue blocks off amazon deffo work

Caught a big rat under the bonnet this morning by putting a large spring trap in there last night. My problem is the old man next door has loads of junk etc lying about --think that's where they are --so leaving bated traps under bonnets of vehicles sorned .

Being rural we have a continuous problem with rats, especially in the autumn and early winter when they come in off the fields after harvest looking for food and shelter. I used to buy poison in 3kg packs from Countrywide until they said a pest control licence was needed. However there's no problem buying the 3kg packs, individual sachets of 100gms on the internet.
The key to good control is persistence. Regularly check and as soon as it gets low top it up. Try not to let it run out. It will take several days for the poison to work. When fresh poison is left undisturbed that's when you know the rats have been cleared. However keep checking, as almost certainly more rats will appear later.
Air rifle is good fun but rats learn very quickly after they lose some of their mates, and run out grab some food and back to cover before you can take aim.

Do you not set up a target area with the bait/food on an aim in on that ready for the rats.

why not get a cat? females are the best predators. My cat goes out every night and rarely comes back without a "kill" trouble is she brings them in the house.. sometimes alive to play with them. She took care of a rat last week.. it was scarpering around the lounge (first photo = waiting for it under the settee. Second photo = final result)

Yes, I bait it with bird food. However after they lose some mates, they soon learn to rush out from cover, grab some food and disappear. I used to shoot them in the evening, but again they soon learnt to feed later at night.

Update. We seem to have a result. 2 days now no bait has been taken. (y) so the stonger bait seems to be doing "what it says on the tin" .

If it continues I will order a larger batch, In case they ban that!.
