A question for the hive mind...

I have been with the RAC for years and use Tesco Clubcard to get the annual fee down.

The renewal is December 1st and the pack arrived today. We have everything Inc home, Europe and personal. But £397!!!

So. What alternatives are there? I am a CAMC member. Is their cover any good?

The RAC fudged when asked about a 7m Elddis 175.

Would only use RAC if a last resort, after our experience earlier this year.

Janine Yes I understand that . But they will not cover my van out of the UK.

Because of age? That’s not what I was told yesterday. They said that the cover was the same abroad as at home. Is it RAC Arrival refusing you or standard RAC?

As long as you're aware of this term in the policy "(i) The most we will pay for all claims arising from any one breakdown is £5,000.". Fine for the UK, but you'd better not need an expensive recovery from Europe.

I was just giving an example of the availablity of policies other than RAC. Of course you need to read T &C's always.

However, all a breakdown co will do generally is take you to a local garage and maybe provide some hotel/travel for a ltd period. £5000 would cover most people. They do not generally recover back to the UK.
