Question about a go box. Do you just need the v5

You can purchase the Go Box at any motorway border crossing and pay for the box and load with money. You are then given an email address where you have to send your documents too. V5 and conformity showing engine type. They will not accept them at point of purchase. I took photos on my ipad and emailed to the address given and they were accepted. If going through the Brenner Pass you don’t have to que go through the automatic barrier on the right as you have your box which will let you through automatically.

Thats the OPs v5. I was just wondering if the max permissible weight of 3500kgs means he doesnt need a gobox at all?? Which figure takes precedence?
I wouldnt think you could uprate from 3500 to 5500 ??
I to am confused with these details

We travel to Hungary once a year at least. As we have a 3.8 ton MH we should need a Go Box for using the motorways. There was a calculator on a website that told me to go from Passau to Hegyeshalom (Hungarian border) would cost me 110 Euro. Since then we have used non-motorway roads. Instead of a 3.5 hour journey it now takes most of the day. But I will not give the Austrians one penny because of this greedy Go Box system. We generally use one of two different night stops. I hope this helps.

Behind the Sports Hall is an area reserved for three or four motorhomes. Clean granite chipping area with a water tap. In the evening the sports hall toilets can be used for €0.50

That’s a much better system now but 3 years ago there was no option to email documents, the service station attendant copied my documents and said they would be forwarded to ASFINAG.

If you are under 3500kgs you need a vignette which is cheap enough and you buy at a filling station without needing to verify your weight.

If you're over 3500kgs, then I would plan a route avoiding motorways or just go somewhere else.

There are lots of posts and threads that tell you that gobox is an expensive pita and whatever you do you can end up being fined by the anti tourism cretins that run it.

Not the V5C? It’s rare to have the certificate of conformity.
We managed to get one for our Mizar , thank you Fiat, then didn’t go to Austria 😂 it came in handy for other things though.

You ought really to sort it out for your own peace of mind. Did you find any plates on your van?
You could be overloaded without realising or conversely have more payload available than you realise.
You could also be insured for the wrong weight of vehicle and either be paying too much or at risk of no payout if your in an accident. 🤷
