Hi. Advice on scenario.....

Buying a used MH.
V5 and other important docs (recent bills, old bills, even a copy of driving licence and Adrian Flux insurance agreement) seen with vendors name and address in UK. Tiny amount sent by bank transfer as deposit and checked name, sort code, account number and banking app confirms name and codes match. Vehicle Smart report all clean too.
BUT vendor now lives in Portugal where he has bought a house. Hence, can't physically be there for actual purchase?

Advice please on doing this safely?

A family member flew down to Australia when his daughter was rushed to hospital. One thing and another led to him extending his visa to 2 years and the family were asked to sell his car for him to put some cash in the bank. We did that of course, but what I am saying is, sometimes there are genuine reasons for somebody out of the country to sell a vehicle with the help of friends/family. It does happen, but then so do frauds

The Hydralift is a chunky piece of kit. I had one on my 20 ton RV. You need to check the rear axle weights the guy who bought mine when I took it off could not fit it to his 12 ton RV as there was not enough capacity. He had to get some engineering done to the back end.
I have similar suspicions and will be investigating further. SV Tech plated the vehicle when imported and I can check limits with them after local weighbridge tells me what I am starting with.

Hydralift are difficult to work with, the kit is very agricultural in construction but is used in the US for Harley's, Quads etc and is very capable. If it doesn't work for you there may be a market for it on RVOC.

Jev88 if thats the pic of the rear of the RV you have purchased that's not a US hydralift , that's a hydraulic Easylifter made in UK . I had a pair of them on the rear of my Damon Ultrasport to carry a Burgman 400 . They work well , just keep an eye on the screws to ensure they are tight .

Thanks for that. Negotiated it into the deal as I know at least that style of lift is well sought after. Good news if it isn't as heavy as the American one.

We have just returned from picking up our motorhome from Portugal, from an English couple who left the UK in it in 2020, travelled down to Portugal in it, bought a house and moved in! Sounding familiar? We had an hour Whatsapp viewing the vehicle, and went with our gut. Again, we sent over a deposit and had to wait a month due to the travel restrictions before we could fly over and get it. We'd spent lots of time messaging the chap who couldn't have been more helpful, so we went on trust at the end of the day.

If you haven't completed the purchase yet, and in order to calm down the nervous and worrying Funsters (who think everyone is dodgy and out to rob you), might I suggest you take the Vendor's first born (or latest grandchild) and handcuff him/her to your kitchen radiator and refuse to release him/her until the sale is completed to your satisfaction.

Oh, and don't forget to deduct the cost of feeding him/her from the purchase price...

Can't wait! Collection next week likely. I'll be the one driving back from Wales with white knuckles if all goes as planned until I get used to the new dimensions (current coachbuilt is 7.5metres, new will be 9.6m).
Th

en on to selling current

I value your concern. But tell me. How would you sell a car if you had moved overseas?

Personally if I was selling and as close as Portugal is to the U.K. I waould be with the vehicle when I sold it.

I would let potential buyers view etc then ask for the traveling one way to be paid by the purchaser.

I think this would make all parties happy 😊

You must have some driveway at home to park that beast!

I take it that this is not “home” because if it was, spring must be coming very late to Peterborough :ROFLMAO: (I always look at the garden in photos before the MH)
Looks great - enjoy!

I am lucky that I can use the dentist car park next door after hours and weekends. I also have a 100 foot garden that I can fit the Autocruise coachbuilt in that we renovated and will try and see if Bertha will fit the same place later today (difficult double gate side access). The neighbour has decided to sell on the last half of a building plot that runs parallel (2 houses built with 2 more planned and approved). Anyone got £200K kicking around they want to donate? Perfect RV space with no turning 😁👍
I do also have a storage spot with wash facilities and maintenance area only 5 minutes drive away.

I arrived home at 11pm, too late for photo so you are right about the vegetation....

You have had a very stressful few days with all of the questions to mull over. Pleased for you that it has all worked out to the good. Enjoy your new motorhome.
With your location just by the dentist then you are only about a minute from where my daughter has just moved to, just before Pioneer Caravans. I see you had a temporary caravan site (free) very near you a few days ago, but they have moved on now.

Yes, was quite interesting reading all the local comments about "don't be racist, they have to stay somewhere"....... Suddenly quiet when the council published pictures of the amazing amount of human excrement deposited in the hedge!!!
Moved to Eye just over a year ago. We like it, just wish I had more cash to buy next doors land 😎
