We use the pumpking card mostly on motorways-can give 25p/litre saving, not many Esso stations near us

And now this has been replaced by fuelpecker-still get discount but much reduced over the pumpkins scheme. BUT now works at Esso, shell and Avia

can you still use the pump king card? or do you need to re-register?

I only registered for PumpKing a week ago and immediately sent a link to apply for Fuelpecker card.

On the subject of fuel I have a shell points card which I only bothered getting as my employer decided to get a shell account and as I do upwards of 1000 miles per week I decided it could be a nice little earner. I could accumulate ‘ Fuel Rewards ‘ with the works truck and then use on the Moho when we go out , ok so far Except...

a ) You can only redeem 1 reward at any one visit
b ) They have a short expiry date
c ) You can’t even use it on the works truck because you are paying on a company account which is already discounted !
Conclusion ?
Complete waste of space

Anyway the company have just decided to dump Shell and we’ve now got Amex cards instead but we have to now find supermarket prices or actual supermarkets. Have you tried negotiating most supermarket petrol forecourts with a trailer outfit the same length as a small Tesco articulated lorry ?

It’s been taken over by Fuelpecker.com if you in CMC get one free, it is only for Esso Service Stations. I just got my new one as the old one is defunct. There is a saving but you have to hunt down the cheap Esso garages as there aren’t that many.

It’s 0.3p dearer than Asda average price
So filling up on a motorway can save a small fortune
I think you find motorway services are exorbitant prices I try not to use them.

Now harder to tell where is cheapest....pump king gave you a fixed weekly price at an Esso station which you could compare against local fuel stations....now you have a fixed discount off an Esso price....trouble is you don’t know what the Esso price is unless you start looking at websites app’s etc.....can now use it at Shell as well but not really worth it as they are usually more expensive and with only a 1p discount unlikely to be of benefit.

I don't understand your quote of my post. At the time of my post the price on motorways using the fuel card was exactly the same as any other Esso hence a bigger saving on the pump displayed price

If you download this app it will compare all local fuel prices
ASDA seem to have stopped showing their price in their own app

I must admit that the super stores are offering between 5 and 10p off a litre by us here in the midlands. Just makes me wonder if its worth bothering with?

kev
Be careful with supermarket fuel, I have had 3 Diesel engines get upset with it, my garage say it’s because the suppliers are not quality consistent.

Supermarket fuel has too many extra additives in it, like ethanol, it is cheaper to bulk it out with that.
Supermarket fuel may be cheaper but you will go further on branded fuel, and the engine won't disintegrate as quick.
Sensors on modern engines are quite intolerant of additives these days, the dye in red diesel upsets them immensely as quite a few have found out.

Is it me but I have just received a Fuelpecker card to replace the CAMC Pumpking card, I have yet set it up so will report back if there are any differences.

The main difference is Fuelpecker has a permanent discount of around 4p on fuel at Esso and 1p at Shell. Pumpking changed their discount weekly.

I have just used my Fuelpecker card for the first time tonight at a Tesco Express where diesel was £1.22.9 will let you know in a few days what the charge me.

Just filled up car at local Esso, £1.21.9 less 3p = £1.18.9 which is a better than any other prices in the area.:giggle:
