Pubs that allow over night stops

What happens when you pull into a pub car park, go have a meal and a few pints, then claim that you have had to much drink to drive and stay over anyway until you are fit to drive. Isnt that free. What can the landlord do about it.

I think you would be very foolish to drink in the first place without asking permission to stay .

If you refused to drive the landlord could report you to the police who could arrest you for being drunk in charge ...

Absolutely, me too

... we spent several months managing a pub and 'living' in the car park in our RV ..
Now most of the time is was fine, indeed as quiet as a graveyard .. but come chucking out time on the week end.. different story, noisy chavs revving cars and showing off to chavess... .. even had glasses thrown at the RV .. I'd rather pay for a CL .. :thumb:

and this was an idyllic country pub..

The Back button trick worked for me - thanks and thanks (once for the map and once for the back button tip)

Will send some we have stopped at when I get a moment

So there's a lesson to be learned - don't use them at weekends.

there's nothing worse than a bunch of noisy funsters at chucking out time

Hi Keith and Jean,

This is a brilliant resource Keith, many thanks for your time and effort.

Are you still in Spain?? Will you be calling in at Newark Show on your way home as usual??

We have decided to wait until the week after the Newark Show to set off for Santa Suzanna for a few weeks, we have so many good friends who go in the spring and autumn it would be a shame to miss them.

.....and this place is £10 - both are worth the cost.

I have the book, and I've stayed at a few pubs mentioned, and also suggested a few for the book, for which I was credited my £30.

So na-na-na-na-naaa

So can we expect a few additions from your suggestions? :thumb:

It must be something to do with Google Maps.

Another trick to try is reloading the page - F5 key.

not a pub, but a chinese restaraunt with a seperate bar :Eeek:

stayed here before and the manager said it was ok.

large slightly sloping carpark.

Anyone got any more we can add, if so please shout. :shout:

A Google map that pin points pubs that are known to allow over night stops..
I have accumulated these from various internet sites & have checked them on Google street view where possible. Some I have used personally.
I invite anyone who knows of others to contact me with details as this is an ongoing project that I will add to

Pubs that allow over night stops

Keith, Wonderful amount of work gone into this. When I checked it first time I saw hundreds of beer tankards on the map, enabling me to search any particular area for stopovers, but now there are non on the map, only a list down the lh side. How can I reset the Google map to show the pubs?
Regards
Ivor

Hi Ivor, I have just checked and the map shows all the "tankards" for me.......
it may work for you if you clear cookies and reboot your pc.

Hi Ivor,

Do I remember you from Portugal earlier this year, at Pedro's?

I have just tried it and all is OK for me.

If you look back through this thread you will find others had a similar problem and found a work around. Some found that just refreshing the page sorted it, click on the circular arrow to the left of the web site name it may be different depending which browser you use.

You can also try F5 key to refresh the page as well.

A few pubs around Lincoln, just click the link below that says Pub Stopovers. A quick call before arriving might be appreciated by the landlord as it's weekend.

Pubs

Hi

We stayed at the Dog and Partridge in the past, free to stay over but obviously you spend in the bar etc.

Our pics are Link Broken.

The land lady told us she liked an email or a call in advance.

Thank you Keith for putting this information on, much appreciated when I start on my travels, had no trouble at all, have printed it off to keep in my MH, so will not leave home without it.

Thank you,

Margaret

Folly Inn Towcester

Great thread this thanks, I am looking to use the Folly Inn at Towcester, does anybody know this pub, or better still have they used it?

One for the list if not already listed, we have used The Waggon Inn north of Ponteland A696, great welcome, great food, dog friendly, local real ales, free stop over if you eat in, hard standing although was quite wet when we stopped in January but wasn't everywhere!!

Just opened map and checked for above, it is there already

A labour of love if ever I saw one keith - top marks.

The landlord of the hostelry next to the Canterbury Park'n'Ride aire lets you stop overnight in his car park if you arrive too late to get through the aire barrier. He expects you to partake of food, and likes you to park in a corner out of sight of the road.

Hoping to try a few soon. Do we pm you to let you update when they were last verified?

Overnight stop

Hi Keith, would you like to add in the Canal Turn in Carnforth. Not too far from the motorway but good nights rest. Petrol station next door as well.

That's a good one for me to know about. I'd be able to visit ancestors' past residences (Great Great Grandparents lived near the canal and he worked on the railway) plus it's en-route to my son's place! Might be okay for when we kayak the Lancaster Canal as well.

Called here yesterday and discovered they have a five pitch site for motorhomes/camper vans:

Very nice pub, quiet country location, good menu, located near Kirkham, Preston.
