Private Plate JEF 11R on retention

Sorry bigwig, it's not millionaires who want make believe number plates, it is the Dell Boys of this world, the pretender's.
Driving a nice motor makes you feel a lot better than having JEF 11R for others to snigger at.

If only we all had your level of insight into the motivations of others we could prevent all crimes from being committed!

Ok, for those who are hard of understanding:

My friend, Jeff Henry Robertson (self made millionaire), has money to burn and wants to personalise his runabout. JEF 11R, with a strategically placed (between the 11) black mounting bolt, would do nicely.

I just asked him, he said he already has JHR 1 and that has much more class.

The fact that some members do not like/cannot see the point of cherished/personalised reg numbers has no relevance to this thread which is a CLASSIFIED ad.

But it does. You are not allowed to bump your ads but if some nice FUNsters keep bringing it to the front page you are on a winner.

So, let me understand this, anyone abroad with a GB plate on the back of their vehicle could actually be George Benson or even George Best?
Please, please, please, please, please make it Gisele Bündchen!

A private plate I liked was AC02 YRV

Or

A COZY RV

I'd pay money for that.
It was on a van an Aire in France

I’m pretty sure that we saw AC05 YRV on a MH. The MoT check website has it assigned to a White Fiat so probably on a MH.

Looks like he forgot to put the standard plates on for an earlier MoT.

Thankfully, only idiots will snigger.Folk with brains will just ignore it and realise the owner is happy.

Good luck with the sale, plenty of people called Jeff out there and as initials there will also be a few.

and realise the owner is happy
I'm not sure he IS happy though as he's selling it. I'd be more convinced if he's said he's NEVER going to sell it as he loves it so much - that would surely be true numberplate happiness ?

I'd like to take it for a sail but I'm not sure it holds water. Am I on the right tack? The left tack?

Blimey, you have special powers which tell you if somebody is happy without ever meeting them. Then deciding if they are really happy according to your rules.

WOW !

It’s obviously the right time for me to post a “for or against” thread ? on the validity or otherwise of the freedom to have a personalised, private, or cherished number plate. I think I am done with W4 NKA and think a W1 NKA might be so much more fun?

Some *******s forget that it's still a free world. They'll never be happy until we're all as miserable as them.

I have to agree with that

Slightly Off Topic

Circa 1988, I was at a local car auctions with my older Brother (who I looked up to and valued his advice), I would have been about 19 years old.

There was a yellowy / orange Talbot something or other (I think Solara) about to go through the sale, and I'd spotted the reg SAT4N (it might have been S4TAN - can't 100% recall which now). I commented to our kid, "Hey, lets buy that for the plate - that's gotta be worth something". Which he instantly poo poo'd as a crazy idea, and said I was daft.

I watched it go through all the same, and the car sold for about £250 - but I took my wise older Brothers advice and kept my hands in my pockets.

Fast forwards a year or so down the line, and the then AutoMart (now AutoTrader), started running a page with Private Numbers for sale. The Talbot had probably met it's maker by then, however the plate was up for sale for about £4000!!!

I tracked it for years after, and the last time I looked which would probably have been some 15+ years later - and Reg Transfers had it up for £50,000.

I never looked again after that.

Thus, I would be in the market for the W4NKA plate to give to our kid for Xmas. But on second thoughts, I'll keep it myself for listening to him!
