Price Drop - 2 Year Three Mobile Pay As You Go Mobile Broadband 24 GB Data SIM £32.30

If the phone isn't getting a signal then I cant make calls anyway

Not sure what network you're with but we have three sims in our phones and a three data sim in the mifi (with an antenna). If we don't get a signal on the phone but can get one on the mifi we can then make a phone call by connecting the phones to the mifi by wifi and then making a call via wifi.

It may or may not work without a sim in the phone - not tried that.

Yes but this assuming everyone has a mobile phone so you only need one contract, if you haven't got a phone why do you need data anyway?
It's only in the last 9 x months that I have been using a phone for data, as previous to that, it was always the MiFi, or WiFi when available.
I may even go back to using the MiFi with my Vodafone sim, and just use the 1p sim for my calls and any data needed if away from the MiFi.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Same again (y) :) only I'm using an old smart phone with a 1p SIM in so we have a choice between Vodafone, ee on the 1p and O2 on Julie's phone so between us we have it covered(y);) and according to another thread this morning voda have an even cheaper deal now that knocks these data Sims out of the water.

Take a look at Tesco sim free they use O2 so no signal worries suits mei

I can't comment about outside UK but no contract GiffGaff (O2) is £15 for 15GB, £20 for 40GB. You can jump up and down the tariffs monthly if you know you need more or less data.

I'm sorry but this whole thread has been pointing out that you don't need a data only SIM anymore as normal phone Sims will do the same with calls and texts thrown in.
See Minxy Girl thread elsewhere for absolute deal breaker.
So you keep saying so, obviously, it must be OK for you but banging the same drum repeatedly doesn't make it so for everybody.:)

Why would anyone want to pay more for a sim that only does a third of the other one, and I'm not banging a drum , only trying to save people money but now Im finished.:cycle::)

As I've explained on two previous occasions, even using your quoted provider, it works out more expensive and much more of a hassle for us but you don't seem to take that onboard.:( Anyway, if it's good for you great.(y)

If anybody has friends or family who work for Sky they do 25GB for £15 per month... (that's half price for 30 months) for the sim only deal

Have you got that right? If so that isn't much of a deal for 'staff'!

It’s friends and family and i’d consider 50% off to be a decent deal... tough crowd in this place

... not for 30 months! That's a LONG time in the mobile phone marketplace. I wouldn't tie myself into a 2 year contract now as things are changing so much and prices/deal getting better and better IMV it just doesn't make sense to commit long-term.

Not a tough crowd, just like to get good deals ... plus I'm from Yorkshire and us Yorkshire lasses drive hard bargains! ?

Its only a better deal if you need that much data
If you only need 1gb a month, like us, the 3 deal is unbeatable

When not away in the `van, we are very light users. I can do a month on 500mb sometimes. My general use is GiffGaff. £5 "goodybag". I also have a sky sim in an old phone we use for data when away. It rolls over every month. So I can use it intensively for several days and then let it build up again.

Giff Gaff £25 unlimited at any time of year.

Though capped when EU roaming Jev :(

"Roaming in the EU and selected destinations with Always On means that after you’ve used the full 20 GB of data, you’ll be charged 0.46p/MB while roaming. "

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Fair enough..... That I didn't know!
Wonder if a hidden VPN would fool it?

That would be interesting to know Jev. Are you going to give it a try? ;)

BTW, it is freezing and foggy here in PE6. Is it the same at PE4?

Cheers,

Jock. :)

I have allowed Karon to turn the heating on Before we get out of bed..... I am getting soft. ?

New GiffGaff rates from February. I think you can use half of the 40GB currently in Europe, so assume the new 80GB will allow 40GB in Europe.
