I like prawns from tigers to the big Mozambican's, but what I don't get is why a lot of rest restaurants and BBQ's and the like don't remove the poo chute, I just don't get 🍤

To eat crap or cut the poo away, the big question of life on earth.

It has never ocurred to me to do that I rarely eat meat but I eat a lot of all varieties of fish and crustaceans and I've never had any ill effects.

They don't watch Master Chef, so have no idea its there, or how to remove it.(y):giggle:

Like the taste, but can't be doing with the faffing about, so rarely buy them.

Chinese mixed race nephews crush the head of prawns with their teeth then suck out the "brain".
Turns my stomach
I've always done that, the flavour is heavenly, and it's a bonus when eating with friends who pass their prawn heads to me.

Its the bright Orange Roe on Scallops I cant stand, sometimes they are left on by cooks, so a quick flick off the plate is called for.

I have to admit that the fussy Plateau du Pêcheur is a meal that you start off feeling hungry and end up feeling starving.
I reckon that the peeling and picking uses up more energy than the food provides.
TinaLes I adore those scallop roes.

You need more practice or a man servant ? 😄

Saw a Ray Mears programme where he caught some prawns, he twisted both of the "flukes" either side of the central one, then pulled on the central one and it came away pulling out the "vein" with it.
We usually buy the frozen raw king prawns from Farmfoods (good price) and they've already been dealt with.

Lazy chef, cost cutting management, take your choice...

Starving them for a few days so the tract is clear is a thing too. Not sure about that.

None acceptable really.

Prawns are classed by me as “fish with legs” along with crab etc., and I cannot stand handling them. Simple answer is to get someone else to do it.

Love a prawn but 100% agree with you 😂
Our second home is Vietnam visiting family resident there, and there are just some things offered to us as delicacies which if alive I would have sprayed or placed in the bin! I just can't bring myself to eat.
They don't get it!
But then again give our Vietnamese daughter in law any cheese stronger than Dairylea and she won't touch it!😁

We only eat cold water prawns. But to be honest the best tasting prawn/shrimp come fro my home town....Morecambe.

I saw on some cookery TV

Morecambe Bay Potted Shrimps by Edmondsons

I wanted to buy but nothing available on the website. Does the place still exist?

Edit: Rick Stein I think

You could try James peet potted shrimp

I talk a load of 💩 so a few Gambas won’t hurt, I’ll stick most things in my mouth and if it tastes good I’ll eat it…😎
