Power used on hook up

Ah - I can see that now, thanks. So, expensive, open flame, requires ventilation, and not actually "energy efficient", as advertised... hmm
Anything can always be advertised as 'efficient'. The question is, is it 95% efficient or 5% efficient:giggle:

3-way fridges are much less efficient than compressors. But they work on gas, which is a huge bonus if you are in the middle of a field and you have a gas bottle. Less so nowadays since solar is widely available.

Hi David your FF may only be on for an hour or so in a 24 hour period especially as your doors are not being opened. If your calculations are for a 24 hour period then you need to recalculate 😉

I've always understood uk builds disconnect 12v unless engine on.
Yours being German, might run fridge 12v from leisure battery???

I was obliquely criticised this morning for leaving my hot water on constantly, using more electricity than was necessary.
I'd have thought keeping the tank hot wasn't especially inefficient compared to heating up a tank from cold... but what do I know.
I know I prefer to have hot water on demand, rather than waiting x minutes for it to heat up.

I did a 2 hour test with the plug in device , it didn’t turn off at all and started from cold already 🤔

Think it might be faulty, ordered thermal paste to try that first as just about the only job I feel able to try and only then after seeing a few on here have done similar, showed how to do with pictures 😁

Does the freezer need defrosting?
Always thought that effects the efficiency, certainly on a domestic one.

I am going to do that, then put it back on 12V to prove to myself that it either is or isn’t wired to work off one of the batteries, there are next to no Amps being drawn but it is a sunny day and hook up is connected 🤔 will see what it reckons if I disconnect the mains and leave on battery 🤔👍

Be careful you don't flatten your batts
edit I don't think your charger will keep up if it's pulling as much as you say.... could end up killing batts and charger

No Idea what all this Amps, watts, zzs, etc. What i do know is we have a Dometic fridge freezer in our van that the fridge door fell off. Now held on with Gorrila tape.

I've started disconnecting from EHU at home for a few days at a time especially during this very hot weather. We empty fridge anyway, clean it and leave it open, then turn all back on day or two before we set off again.

Chap who did our habitation check last year advised that taking off EHU now and then would be advisable as being left on EHU all the time could overheat battery which he said have caused fires in MHOME.

I keep an eye on battery levels and have noted a slight decrease overnight but with all this sun, solar has increased it during the day.

Most of them work better on gas. They will draw less on 12volts but they wont cool as well.

DavidG58 isnt this a fairly new fridge? I seem to remember quite a saga about replacement

Our battery developed a shorted cell in 2019 and got hot while we were in Benidorm, fortunately the Votronic solar charger has a thermistor on the negative terminal and shut down. Now while at home I just have an optimate 2 on the new battery, it can only charge at 0.8 amps so nothing will get hot again 😊

That was the start of our ultimate failure as well, a few years after it dumped all its refrigerant gas somewhere in the western isles 🙁

Wasn't a big seller that model, ;) .
How many layers of tape are needed for a reliable hinge?
Mike.
