Possibly already been aired but...

I don’t think it matters what vehicle you go out in, I only have the MoHo and we did all our shopping in it during the last lockdown and had no issues at all. I am sure if you need to take your van for a service you can as they are not closing those businesses are they only places where lots of people congregate such as pubs, gyms and non essential shops.

Yeah but the people who are complaining about being closed down, from somewhere like where you live, are vastly different to here where we havnt had one case, but we have to put up with it.
With only half a dozen people per hectare I guess it is difficult not to practice social distancing. You couldn't catch it if you wanted too.... ;) :giggle:

Are you trying to say that he's living in a more isolated part of the country so that he doesn't have to interact too much with folk as he's a GOG ... and that if anyone else sees him they run a mile to get away? :giggle:

Looks like motorhome dealers will be closing same as car dealers. Had mine booked in at Tyne Valley for a solar panel and they rang this morning cancelling the booking. They were closing from Thursday until at least 2nd December.

Does it say essential though ... this is an extract from a post earlier:
  • From 00:01 on Thursday 5 November you should not travel except for specific reasons including education, work (if it can't be done from home), exercise and recreation, medical reasons, food and other essential shopping and to provide care.
I think our dropping of the MH to the dealer and then collecting it will be a 'specific reason' to travel and assume they will still be working just as they have done since they were permitted to after the first lockdown started.
But motorhome dealers have to close.

Like to think so, lockdown suits me very well, thanks (y) :giggle:

That's the sales not the service bit which I'm hoping will remain open otherwise it would mean all garages would also have to cease working:

4. Businesses and venues
To reduce social contact, the Government has ordered certain businesses and venues to close. These include:
  • all non-essential retail, including, but not limited to clothing and electronics stores, vehicle showrooms, travel agents, betting shops, auction houses, tailors, car washes, tobacco and vape shops.

Got ours booked for hab check and MoT/service later this month. If they close, fair enough but so far seen no indication about vehicle servicing being stopped.

We have ours booked for a hab check on the 12th. We will be guided by the dealer. If they take suitable care, and we don't interact inappropriately with anyone I can't see that this will add to the spread and it keeps at least some of the economy going.

If the dealer cancels I'll understand that too. In which case I hope Burstner back them up regarding the warranty.
I imagine you will get a call, they have to close under the lockdown

Did MOT \ vehicle repair and maintenance services not remain open during lockdown 1? If so, would they not remain open this time around?

Sorry, to clarify my opinion, it depends what the dealership does

It it is just going for a hab-check at a leisure vehicle dealer they will have to close

If its a commercial dealer then they will be open

Premium motorhomes are staying Open for servicing and repair work but the showroom part will close.

Elite rang to say they thought they would need to close - could we come early? We were booked for Thurs for a hab check and MOT .
Early for them to be clear on the rules I suspect.Showroom will have to close - but perhaps not the workshop?
We had to collect it from the commercial dealers (new gearbox-another story) ,empty it out into the hallway, and race to get it there for 5pm as Mr G has work the rest of the week.
It may be there until 3rd Dec...

Don’t forget your motorhome is insured under the garages insurance whilst it’s being worked on, and your insurance when it’s in the car park

Your insurance probably wouldn’t cover it being aft at the garage till after lockdown

Chelston Motorhomes phoned me on Monday morning to say that they would have to postpone my appointment, because they are classified as a leisure industry. I was expecting the call and made a booking for February. They offered December or January appointments but the jobs are warranty matters and not urgent. Hopefully the lockdown will be over by February but my crystal ball has shut down and even my iPad doesn’t know.

I drained down on Saturday and prepared the motorhome for shutdown. My crystal ball was still working at that point. My storage site stayed open last time, it has some businesses on the site. However, travelling to it probably doesn’t count as essential..

[QUOTE="gus-lopez,

Boris speaks for the Uk doesn't he? If he doesn't then why are we not putting the borders back up?
Not for the Covid crisis I’m afraid. He talks for 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 only 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 and 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Have their own system. 😷

He’s putting forward England only proposals to parliament, but Scottish and Welsh MPs will have a vote, should be only English MPs, we don’t have a say in what the Scots or Welsh do

Some of the proposals before Parliament also affect the devolved Countries.

Our car lives in our garage, with the van parked on the drive blocking its exit.........I’ll be taking the van to Asda on my weekly shopping jaunt, as it’ll be easier for me. It’s a vehicle, I’m using it for our essential food supplies, nothing wrong with that. (y)

I agree with you on that one mate 👍

Here in Scotland we are sort of okay. There are large areas in the central belt where travel is advised against but in the South West, Borders and highlands we can travel, though some of my family contracted the virus in the Borders last week. We are heading off tomorrow.

Bum ... BUM .... and bl**dy BBBBUUUMMMMMMMM!!!!

Just had an email and phone call from our dealer to say they are closing both sales and servicing (even though they're on 2 separate sites), so we are stuffed!!!!! :crying:

The warranty period for when the first hab had to be done was extended by 2 months to 6 December but obviously that ain't gonna happen so I've just written to Carthago again to ask if they will extend it for a further 2 months to 6 February to allow for getting it booked in and the Christmas/New Year closure ... We're not meant to use the ruddy thing are we!

The only good thing is that I didn't tax it for this month as was originally planned.

then put the borders back up. Place is a laughing stock .Throw in 117 mp's who are nothing to do with england voting on stuff. Bit like the last lot in 2016 with Irish;Maltese & Cypriots voting on b*****

No +117 of them pokenosing as well.

separate them then.

As to public transport . I vowed once I passed my test I'd never use it again. Was offered some great positions in London but there isn't enough money you could pay me to travel on a tube even with a seat let alone standing up.

I HOPE YOUVE SORNED IT
It's been on SORN since the end of August ... poor thing must be desperate to have a good run down the motorway!
