I Did This With My Relay for 12v Habitation Electrics on the move

Hi all

Is the legal reason why the 12v is disconnected on british built vans to ensure you cannot show a white light to the rear of the vehicle except your reversing lights?.
Then just ensure your rear curtains are closed when travelling with habitat lights on!

On most modern built vans there is a 5 pin changeover relay which turns the habitation 12v off & turns the fridge 12v on. Usually situated in the engine compartment.

On british vans you just need to disconnect the thick brown one from pin 87 or 87a.

The other pin (87 or 87a) will have a thick red with yellow tracer which is your fridge feed.

do you have any photos of the changeover relay please, our MH is a Bailey 2015 on a peugeot boxer base?

I will lift the bonnet and try and to do you a few photos when /if ever it stops raining.
Let's hope the engine innards are similar enough to give you a guide.
The photos will be from a 2006 Bessacarr E745 / on Fiat Ducato 2.8 JTD

the electric step will not automatically close on ignition start. You will have to close it manually before moving off.
It's a good idea to have an alarm buzzer wired to the step, enabled by the D+ signal, so that when the engine is running and the step is not retracted, the buzzer sounds. That's how it is on my Hymer, and it works well enough.

Our 12v electrics always work when travelling, as we are of french origin. The MH that is not us. In the winter may have the heating on and often the hot water. Frequently have the mains on from the inverter too for such items as the slow cooker and the electric blanket, we do like a warm bed.
