Is this dog friendly please?

Yes it is, lots of dogs on there and the outside area of the downstairs bar if and when it reopens (which has some cover).

Is the left-hand side beach carpark at Alvor still open?

Whilst the car parks at Alvor are ‘open’ I wouldn’t advise overnighting, there’s quite a bit of negativity on local fb pages recently as there have been the usual issues of toilet dumping being witnessed, and I know the GNR regularly move folk off, no idea if fined or not, but probably The old ‘aire’ site is permanently closed due to environmental health issues.

Alvor camping is dog friendly, and as said above, is very well situated for the town. Both bars are open there, but with the town being so close there are much better options imho
( we even have a €1 pint bar)

You can’t book a space, but there is quite a bit of turnover, and whilst the ‘top section’ pitches are sought after, there’s usually somewhere down the ‘back’ area which is a bit ‘rustic’

……there is a downside tho………I live there

We often go here for a weekend, fantastic place https://mikki-place-to-stay.com/. On the subject of wild camping here, nobody cares unless you make a nuisance of yourself, even in the summer.

Avoid at all costs, worst place ever. I’ll leave it there

Thanks Dave meeting our daughter and hubby off the plane at faro for a week mid may, they want bars and beach, the Alvo site looks big enough for the RV so you may see us there.

Obviously, this is like marmite. We like it because:-

Its a great atmosphere, a bit hippy I agree
Pool, designed like a small lake is great for kids
Again, so much for youngsters to do and they play well together, like tribes.
Great Café/Bar/Pizza night
Lots of nationalities and very mixed cultures
SWMBO reckons its a great hairdresser/massage etc;
Love the animals and the artwork
Services are all good (apart from that one area). EHU was great.

Mainly the owners. Also the sewage, and lack of drinkable water. And the fact that it’s all illegal, even though they’ll lie to you, take your money for a ‘residential’ pitch, promise you the earth, then screw you over, whilst playing favourites with the Dutch. They really don’t like the English, and do t even think of trying to have ‘fun’ in the bar
And I wasn’t the only one.
If that place ever caught fire ( which is likely as it’s built from pallets) I’d be the first one there with a petrol tanker
I could go on, but that’s enough for now

…….oh, but I did have a bit of fun teaching their parrot to say ‘ F off Arno’
