Hi, we will be arriving in Portsmouth from Santander in a few weeks. The ferry doesn't arrive until 8pm and our storage is quite a few hours away and not open overnight.

Does anyone have any info on where to stay around Portsmouth please, I guess lots of sites won't want us turning up after 9pm?

Another vote for Port Solent. Quiet. safe, 5 minutes away, dog walks adjacent, turn up when you like..

Try along the sea wall - Marina Keep. No need to contact Port Solent then. Co-ords. Port Solent Co-ords. 50.84 -1.1055. Quieter but a bit more of a walk to Wetherspoons though.

There are no parking spaces there so you are effectively in the roadway.

There's a bit of a pull off on the verge by the roundabout. Anyway there's hardly any traffic as it only goes to the Naval Fire training place.

Think parking there would be frowned upon when so easy at Port Solent

The Tel. No. is on Notice Boards near the entries.

On phoning, we got a cheery, "Thank you very much for telling us"

They'll want your Reg. No.

Always amazes me hold polite & plesent the security people are there.
We spent last night there as going to Adams Morey this morning.

Spoons kitchen is closed for maintainance only wanted something quick went in Bugers & Bangers, one of the best burgers I've ever had & the music was good '70's heavy rock. They had the door open so it was a bit cold.

Seen a few there from time to time when on my constitutionals. Nothing on local Facebook to suggest that anyone is up in arms.
Just parking on a verge is enough.
There is also the ongoing problem of gypsies taking up short term residence on the fields adjoining, They don't need encouragement.
I worked at Port Solent for over 20yrs.

My Swiss "Family" bought one of those lovely apartments overlooking the marina, it was lovely to visit them, go for a swim in the indoor residents pool, then down for a meal on the boardwalk in the evenings. There used to be a table BBQ place, you told them what meat you wanted, they delivered it raw, with marinades, for you to cook yourself. Never saw anyone complain that their steak was under/over cooked.:giggle:
The Cinema was also great, but alas they have passed away now, so apartment had to be sold.
Its almost a deja vu moment for me, as we now have a MH, and can go there and rough it stay in the car park;), lovely gesture to allow us to park for free, we would use the local bars/restaurant's, maybe even the Cinema if there was something decent on.
Thank You Port Solent.(y)

Plenty of other places to eat if you don't like 'Spoons ! O Sole Mio, wonderful Italian food, Casa Brazil if you like all-you- can-eat meat, brought round on skewers and carved onto your plate, loads of side dishes, Harvester for cheap chicken, etc etc. Being local we often pop there for meals (usually after a trip to the recycling centre on site to check out the 'bargains' in the store).

The EHDC car park in Petersfield by the Tesco 25 mins up the A3 is good to go.

We went there a couple of years ago and it was a paying carpark. Don't know if that was because it was daytime or if they've changed their policy.
