Has anyone recently sailed from Poole to Cherbourg, just wondering what the latest advice is for parking a motorhome in the area for overnight stay prior to early morning sailing. I have been advised it would cost £15. Just wondered if anyone had any info or recomendations for parking somewhere local overnight, and for the return journey which will be a late crossing, so may need to stay local for the night to make the journey home early the following morning. Any help would be appreciated.

Regards John

Guess you will be able to, however, there will be ( going on B.F. normal rip-off attitude ) some charge !!!

Just arrived at the bakers arms … speaking to the staff they had a problem with ‘travellers ‘ who wouldn’t leave even with police intervention… they made the landlady feel unsafe as she lives on the premises on her own and damaged the carpark and fencing so have decided for the moment to call a halt on motorhome stops…. They may resume in a year or so … it’s a fab stop too! Such a shame 😟

That is such a shame. I did wonder if thst was part of it. We do get a huge amount of problems here with them. They are trying to sort transit sites here but it’s a case of not in my back yard, so nothing happens. We have a large empty car park nearby which was used as park and ride one Christmas, council staff car park another time but basically left empty for most of the year. The travellers used to break the lock and park there for a while and move on however our council have completely sealed it off with massive concrete blocks and as a result they have to go elsewhere…our local parks, cricket pitches etc.
The French definitely seem to have a better grip than we do over here.

Useful info, we have just booked to head out of Poole on the 18th after we have visited EssenJay on the 17th to get cab steps fitted.

The port itself is fine and very close to some lovely restaurants on the quay 😊
