Police fine 96 people for wild camping

I have seen some of these vans lots of home made with no on board toilets .
I do lots of walking along the Algarve coast paths and they are littered with individual piles of s..t
With some toilet paper on top.
That is no responsible wild camping.

One wonders whether they would be welcome on campsites, as some sites in UK do not allow van conversions which are not real Motor Caravans.

Anyone ever bother to read, or even have access to similar sites like Motorhomefun from other European countries......the reason I ask is do these other nations have the same Wildcamping issues while visiting Portugal and Spain......or is it just a Brit. issue?
The area where we live in Spain has an ongoing wildcamping issue, however the British vans are greatly outnumbered by others...

It could be that residents get fed up with wild campers ( fair enough )

The article goes on to say:

It came less than one week after the Algarve tourism board (RTA) launched a new campaign encouraging motorhomers to “make the best choice” and park up at one of the region’s 35 official camp and caravan sites

Could somebody with access to information on those 35 campsites please aggregate the number of pitches, and secondly do the excecise for the number of pitches open in winter.
