Polar screen covers

Could I please ask a couple of questions to those that have the Polar screens

What they are like to fold up when wet? My reason for asking is that I previously had (non Polar) silver screens that were very difficult (heavy & soggy) to put back in their bag if I was heading out for they day

As they get older, do they start to shed particles of silver everywhere? My last ones did and I finished up binning them before heading for a ferry. On the plus side, the storage bag is still in use for my skateboard 🙂

How do the Polar covers compare to Taylormade or Silverscreens? From what I've seen, Taylormade and Silverscreens look very similar. The Polar ones look a tad cheaper.
Polar are thinner and ligter apparently using a better product,I have them on my A-class and they are very good. Polar make a lot of thermal products for industry so hopefully they know the best material

I wipe of excess water and then roll them up as I go around the van and then put straight into bag. No silver bits come off.

I see a number that pitch up, sterns on that stay on day or night for the length of their stay. Even with a flap type window within the blind - such a pity not to enjoy the view. Is the motivation that they are difficult to fold away each morning or are they simply nocturnal?

As the thread has ‘covered’ a number of issues, I hope one more wont matter!

I‘m thinking of ordering a set but unsure whether I’ll need the optional vent covers (Ducato). I doubt we’ll be venturing into the arctic circle for a long stay over winter and I anticipate that the screens would only be used overnight in winter for insulation purposes. How vital is the vent cover?

Like mine a lot have a section that folds down with a privacy screen in, you can see out but folk can’t see in let’s the light in the day time.

This is a Polar Cover i took the stainless steel base nipples with me and put them on with 3M double sided tape they have never come off

Not quite the same fittings, but our Rapido came with factory fitted with press studs. I wanted to use these on the new Polar Screen, so I sourced the bits for the screen, and Graham at Polar fitted them. As above, never had an issue with them, even in really windy weather. I see from my reply further up, that I've had them getting on for 2 years now. Excellent product and service.

I've just ordered from silverscreens, waiting for them to arrive for my Ducato, after extensive research (asked the chap on the next pitch to me about his 😂), not worth paying the extra to cover the vents at the bottom of the windscreen, just make sure all your internal vents are closed when you pitch up, apparently that should do unless you're going to the Arctic circle 🤣🤣

There MUST be material you can buy to DIY make a decent external winter screen cover rather that pay out a lot for manufactured ones

There probably is, but you'd never be able to make if fit as good as the professionals and Silverscreen guarantee 100% condensation free which was my main reason for buying it 😊

Would rather pay so my van looks tidy rather than a sh*t heap, not many have industrial stitchers to do a proper job

- I don't particularly care if my van looks tidy it not so I might just have a look into various materials to make one . . .

I just wanted to say that we ordered Polar screens yesterday from Minister Polar, one for us and one for my parents van.

I explained I had left it too late to order as we were going on holiday today so I would order next week. Well what fantastic service, we ordered yesterday and were offered the option of next day delivery, they arrived at 10am. We are now away in the van with the screens on! They look great as well. We did have a previous polar screen on our last van a transit but this one is much better! My parents are elsewhere this weekend but also managed to collect their screen cover from me as they set off! Great Service!!
