Places to stay in Norfolk near Cromer

the MoHo service point is a manhole in the road which you drive over and then scrabble under the van to lift the cover off,
??? Or, you could always remove the cover and place it to one side before driving into position? I find it far easier and more logical...

A couple of mentions of the Sandringham site, the Cruisers want to go to Cromer! :giggle:

We have just returned from CMC Incleboro Fields. Access is a narrow lane, and until 1300hrs it is the outward track and after 1300 hrs it is the inward track, it seemed to work OK. The site is very hilly. It has 241 pitches with only 8 hard standing pitches, and the rest are very uneven and very heavily used and muddy, it has little or no phone reception, the MoHo service point is a manhole in the road which you drive over and then scrabble under the van to lift the cover off, if you have your grey water discharge on the passenger side you have to turn round and drive against the traffic flow so as to get on the discharge point. The CCC site is down a very narrow and bumpy road, we did not use it but took our car up there for a look. Cromer and Sheringham are well worth a visit, The seafood stall at Sheringham market was very good. And the Two Lifeboats Pub.

Was that the only pitch available, last year loads empty on arrival and got a couple of nice flat pitches up the top overlooking the middle ‘bowl’ area that is at the exit end.

We didn’t have any problems getting a phone signal last year at Incleboro.
The phone signal was bad to non existent, other people were complaining about the lack of signal. We were in the middle area by the MoHo service point, there were very few levelish pitches to find when we arrived, in fact very few level pitches at all, unless you went on the heights which seemed to be permanently full. May try Seacroft or a nearby CL next time.

Was at Stiffkey last week 3 miles east of Wells next the sea. edge of beach . 35 quid a night with hookup . good clean bogs as well.

We have just got back from a couple of days at Seacroft , judging by the amount of motorhomes we saw travelling in the opposite direction the North Norfolk coast will be chock a block with them this weekend . Traffic on the A148 and A149 was horrendous with long queues at every roundabout .
I live near the Cross Quays Swing Bridge, between Lincolnshire & Norfolk. Recently, we’ve noticed a HUGE increase in MoHo’s, even exceeding wobble boxes. Quite a number have TOADS too. It’s great for the local economy but a nightmare when we use King’s Lynn supermarkets!
The real bottleneck starts at the Pullover Roundabout, or a mile before on a busy day!

It will be worse if they go ahead and shut the bridge for painting at Sutton bridge as reported in the edp

If your going Thetford way wisbeech direction could be quicker and it bypasses K.L.and the swing bridge

Hello Cruiser, we stayed very near Cromer in May this year. Stayed on a site called Woodhill which is between Cromer and Sheringham. It is an independent site and was a very nice site close to the sea with sunset views. Can not comment about the facilities as they were closed due to Covid restrictions in May. But the staff were very helpful and there is a site shop. Not over impressed with Cromer although it has a pier. Sheringham was very nice. There is a bus stop just outside of the site on the main road. We took the bus to Wells Next to the Sea which was also very nice.

Hope this helps?

Deers glade and Deers mead. Both owned by same family can’t remember which one but one of them is Adult only. Both about 10mins from Cromer on the A140

Thanks so much for your input. We tried to book Seacroft for 2-9 September but it’s fully booked. We managed to book for May next year!!
I’m going to try Seacroft again tomorrow in case there’s been a cancellation.
We will also check out the other sites and CLs you’ve mentioned. Thank you

You’re right but they don’t have the funding yet! With luck, be just in time for next season so they can disrupt all the holiday traffic! I think that’s how councils work, isn’t it?

It can be a difficult one to book, same for Incleboro Fields. Keep checking and book days as they come up and keep adding more days. The best time is 7 or 8 days before the dates as the ‘you’ll be here before you know if’ booking reminders are emailed out then.

We love north Norfolk, there are many lovely beaches and pretty villages to visit. We’ve done the seal trip from Morston Quay several times. You can park at Morston Quay, and we have a day there. Blakeney is also worth a visit, parking is again on the Quay. We always go to Cley, pronounced to rhyme with eye. You can park for free in the village car park. Do visit the smokehouse, which sells the most delicious fish. https://cleysmokehouse.com/

You can walk through the salt marshes, down to the beach. It’s a lovely walk. There’s a visitor centre there, which is excellent https://www.norfolkwildlifetrust.or...-reserves/reserves/cley-and-salthouse-marshes

We’ve done the steam train from Holt, which takes you into Sheringham. You can park easily at Holt station.

My favourite beach is Brancaster beach. There’s plenty of paid parking for a motorhome, we go for the whole day. Brancaster beach stretches to the left and right as far as the eye can see, it’s immense and beautiful.

So many lovely places to go, enjoy.

Stop this. There are enough people there already ;)

Don't know what your height is but there is a site 10 minutes walk from the town centre, has 2.8M height restriction. Cromercamping.com

The lovely hotel The George, at Cley, has reopened as The George and Dragon. They have a nice bar, outside eating and drinking gardens and a nice restaurant area, which is all dog friendly. Park at Cley village hall.

Just returned from a week at Incleboro, West Runton. Couldn't find much wrong with the site. Its about a 10 minute walk to the bus stop. The bus service along the coast is excellent. We went to Cromer, Sherringham and Wells. It was our first trip to this area. The Seacroft site might be better for you as its nearer to the bus stop. If you like good food The Pepper Pot restaurant only does takeaways but the food is excellent. You can order your food there and book a table in the social club next door where the staff will put tablecloths out , utensils and hot plates. The Pepper Pot delivers the food there. Advantages...social club beer £1.50 cheaper than pub, tv screens if you want to watch the footy, friendly staff and locals.

back in the 80's whenm i worked for
We're off to Forest Park Overstrand today for a few days, really nice site and just a mile or so from Cromer.

Or another nice site, bit further from Cromer you could try:-

Pete
Was there for a very wet weekend 2 weeks ago. Nice site, not their fault it was raining ( :sneaky:). we had our crab sandwich at 'The Crab Pot cafe' in town. lovely. Also visit the pier, if you enjoyed Alan Partridge Alpha Papa you will recognise the penaultimate scene shot there.

Back in the '80's The Canaries made it to the LC final 'v' Sunderland. So many cars were making their way to London that someone posted a sign on the county border
"will the last person to leave Norfolk please shut the gate"
