We're guessing now, but I interpreted the 'on site engineer' to be the maintenence guy on the campsite as they're travelling ?
The leak perhaps wasn't picked up during the service.
Post #21 tells us it's all sorted now by a local garage

Since when did a service include checking all over the vehicle for minor faults? Basically filters and oil change plus check brakes etc

So would I, but the OP said in Post #10, that she had her van serviced in March and, in a later post, the site mechanic (which I presume is at the garage?) had told her to just keep topping up with water? To my mind, as it looks like an old leak, it should have been fixed then. Perhaps she should find another garage, what do you think?
She's had it fixed please let her enjoy the trip without planting any unnecessary worries.
If it needed doing I'm sure it's been done

Hmmm
Me thinks you could be right... but it is a widely respected garage ??

A busy workshop will try and get the job it is being paid to do done quickly. They don't have extra time to spend going over everything unless you pay the extra hour or more labour just looking for and reporting faults.

The chap that pointed out the vacuum hoses went above and beyond, not looking to do the job. People often accuse garages of inventing and finding extra faults to create more business. It is rarely the case in most garages. They are all very busy if they are good.
