Some stunning pictures in the past 30 + posts.
Still learning how to put them up (after i have found them, my files are a mess)

The municipal site? We liked it there. Alan was desperate for pie & chips from the chippy but I wouldn't let him get any :giggler:
It had just been taken over by a young couple when we were there and they were really trying to make it lovely.
Do hope it has been successful for them.

Could i put upon you for co ords of your bavaria stop ?
It was an ACSI campsite on Lake Chiemsee: I'm fairly sure this is the one - Chiemsee Strandcamping

On the other side of the lake there is a naturist beach club - Chiemsee FKK. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't quite right when we were there, so we didn't go in, which was unfortunate. We had lunch in the van in the large car park, but I kinda wished we'd gone in to check the club out - can't remember what the admission charge was.

The campsite was textile, but we enjoyed it because of the pitch we secured by the water's edge. It was only an overnight stop - we were on our way to Austria, where we were able to enjoy a few pleasant naturist sites.

I'm impressed last time we were there there was no way a bottle would stand up on its own in the wind. They don't call it the windy mountain without reason.
Post number 19691 photo of the day thread June 13th 2019.

Decent photos were taken on the camera as i have the capability and not posted them on here before.

To give some background, I had been trying and failing to stop at the top for years. I managed to talk Riverbankannie into trying it out for me ! Weather, as you rightly point out, has to be perfect. We have seen kids freezing upon their descent whilst we are sunbathing. I think the day time temperature was plus 30 and night time was 2 degrees. If there is a slight breeze at the bottom do not think about staying the night. Cyclists literally get blown off the mountain and we were there for the stage of TdF where they stopped it 6kms short.
44.174307, 5.271556 for the overnight stop
44.173761, 5.277317 for the sunset at the top
44.175019, 5.280434 for the sunrise in the morning

Enjoy

3 euros entry and you pay at the cafe. We tried and failed to get in there through a complete misunderstanding. Supposed to be really good day visit job.
Cheers

Our visit was early September 25-28 deg at sea level.
I had to get up at 2 am to turn the van to face the wind, 6000 ft up 6 or 8 vans there in the evening next morning only one other brave soul. Bike cover torn to shreds.

This was the gas bottle after a summer night on Mont Ventoux.
