Phone deals: Vodafone expiring

You can get the same deal on a 12 month contract @ £8/month

Alternatively for £10 an EE deal with unlimited data.
I would be interested to know where the £10 EE deal is.

You can get a 60gb on a 12 months contract but not an unlimited one that I can find - do you have a link?

Again, where is this please?

Apologies I misread your original post and thought it was 60gb not 100gb

Plus, - and I know that yesterday's Vodafone man's job was to try keep me with them (which I have anyway) and renew directly through him, he did say that they sell your details from your statement (not sure how that works with GDPR now?).
Yes Gavin, I had the same tripe from them on Monday, when trying to cancel with Vodafone.

I was just about to go for the same deal as yourself..........................................when I saw this from Mel. :)

At the risk of upsetting people, Fonehouse have just advertised another deal ... 100gb data, unlimited calls & texts, for £8 a month on a 24 month contract ... :imoutahere:
Nice one Mel. (y)
Do we know how long that offer is on for please? I couldn't find an expiry date for it.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

No. If you get an amount as your data, with a Vodafone you get to use it all abroad. That is why I always use a Vodafone data limited deal, not an unlimited data deal.
I think you meant YES as you were agreeing with each other.

Can you put a 5g sim into a 4 g phone? i realise it will only run at 4g

Yes, if the phone can't use 5G it will just use 4G instead.

I found out recently that if you get an unlimited data deal with Vodafone Business then you get unlimited data abroad also. I've not put it to the test yet but I have it in writing from them that that is the case.

Minxy Girl? :)

I phoned Fonehouse today to ask, but they were only interested in me signing up there and then, rather than nearer the end of my 30 x days notice. :(

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Currently my new 5G sim is in and working in a phone that doesn’t even know “G“ exists. It’s a very strange trip into the past.

Yes - you need to phone Vodafone (your supplier) 30 days before the end of your contract and tell them you are looking at all offers and want to let your SIM to go to PAYG at the end of that period. They cannot match the likes of Fonehouse (3rd party suppliers) but you will have to listen to some sort of spiel.
Vodafone have a process for retaining your number. You then either buy the new sim on day 29 at the earliest so you will have 2 active SIMs but you will lose use of the phone for 24hr while your number is changed across as you revert to 1 SIM. No big deal during these times.

Thanks for that Camdoon, but after wasting just over 2 x hours of my time with Vodafone, via that Tobi chat thing, you'll understand if I'm not keen to communicate with them again.

My contract ended in March, and I've already given 30 x days notice and got my PAC No, so I might just as well apply online for the Fonehouse deal, and put up with any overlap of services/charges which map apply.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Yes when you come down to it £2 per week - it is easier just getting it done. :) Just get your reminders in your calendar for next year :) Nothing serious gets sorted through Tobi. If you leave any contract no company is going to allow you to walk without giving you a sales pitch.
I think over the year I now know how Vodafone works and it comes within the bounds of the bottom end of acceptable which is better than '3' who I had to reclaim a year's worth of Direct Debits from or Tesco who are brilliant but mean with data.
You do not need a PAC if you are sticking with Vodafone but to follow these instructions:

Just something to think about for those looking to get a new contract, with Fonehouse you can get 2 Vodafone deals (below), whilst the first locks you in for 2 years the cost works out the same pcm and thinking about it as the price is SO low at the moment and better deals are gonna be difficult to find, I'm wondering whether to go for 2 years rather than 1 and not have to ride this 'merry-go-round' again in a year's time:

£8 pcm for 100gb on a 24 month contract

That is my thinking too Mel. :)

I had another chat with Fonehouse earlier, and they said that as it wasn't an upgrade, ie, a totally new contract, that I would have to have the new number. TBH I'm not that bothered, as I only use their sim for data. I use 1p Mobile for the few calls and texts that I do make/send, however, I may reconsider that in the near future, if I go for the 24 x month deal.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Decision made, I've gone for the 24 month for myself. :giggle: On the Mobiles.co.uk website hubby tells me that the same sim is £11 pcm so I thought I'd snaffle the Fonehouse one before it gets pulled!

If you do decide to use Fonehouse hubby has discovered they do a 'recommend a friend' payment of £25 per recommendee who becomes their customer, this is for the recommender though, but I'll split it with you if you want! :giggle:

Does that mean that it will DEFINITELY end on 25th June? Our contracts isn't up until the end of July so we might have to double up for a month.
When mine expired back in january i went in the shop and they just renewed it at the same price.BUSBY.

That's with Vodafone direct I assume, not via the discounters so you'll be paying the full amount.

Yes but 20 pounds a month for 100 gb home and away I reckon is a bargain.BUSBY.

... but why pay more than £8 for the same thing?

Well my new sim should arrive tomorrow so I'll have my own 100gb of data per month to do what I want with so won't have to rely on hubby's! :dance2::Grin:

I'll keep my existing PAYG Three sim as a back-up (I have a dual sim phone) and leave my existing number on that otherwise if I change it over to Vodafone I'll lose all the PAYG credit.

Info and clarity from Vodafone confirming an unlimited data contract is capped but others are not whilst abroad. Seems a stupid idea - pay for unlimited data and then get less than a 60 or 100 contract whilst abroad?

Ritik: Neil, i would like to inform you that you can use the full data in the plan for 60 gb or 100 gb , the data is capped 25 gb for abroad only in unlimited plan , so may i know would you like to upgrade the plan ?

Yes it's daft isn't it, you'd think that those with unlimited date would get the highest 'cap', ie 100gb, but nope ... 25gb is your lot!
