We have just bought an 1100 bag of PG Tips, which usually last abour a year, only to find that they have done away with pyramid bags and changed to flat bags as well as changing the source if the tea. Result is insipid, flavourless tea even after 5 minutes steeping. I've seen reports that the makers say better tea, better saturation with flat bags, which is rubbish. This is all about profit. How do you feel?

The pyramids were removed due to splitting or so they said.

Yep, rubbish brew now, just dusty floor sweepings insipid gut rot. Even Tessies own label are better.

Try Sainsbury's Assam - the only one we buy. Yorkshire tea is horrible (I come from Yorks and can't bear it)

Don’t do PG or Tetley (weren’t they at risk recently?) Yorkshire tea for convenience, Earl Grey for Madam, various loose leaf if feeling extravagant. Agree that Assam leaf tea is good too.

Typhoo Tea is set to appoint administrators as the 120-year-old brand's sales slump, losses widen and debts rise.
The makers of Yorkshire tea.
Thanks, that’s who I must have seen as being in trouble as opposed to Tetley.

A important topic this, tea is a critical motorhome accessory.

Shame about PG Tips, was always one of my favourites.

Yorkshire Tea is overrated in my opinion. A bit bland despite the hype.

Our current preference is Dorset Tea, it has a healthy does of Assam, so is nice and flavourful.

I'm tight. We use Tesco Stockwell tea and share a bag 🤣

Heavens, you must like weak tea! ::bigsmile:

They did this a little while ago. We generally have PG Tips, and the pyramid bags must have disappeared about a year ago. All that original advertising on how the pyramid increases the flavour has been ignored to save money. All about cost cutting with cheaper tea, however, for the moment we are sticking with them. We take hundreds of them when we travel abroad.

The large bags were for catering use and used to be very good.

A strong cup of tea and quickly used to be the case.

Unfortunately it’s no longer the case 🥲

The price shot up a year or two back as well 🙄

Any tea with milk in it is ruined. PG Tips,on the other hand, can only get better whatever is added to it. Try honey.

Funny that. We used PG all the while but then there was quite a price hike. That is when we noticed the change in flavour. We contacted them to complain and they told us they “ improved” the blend to enhance the customer experience!! What a load of bull. Tried a few different ones and settled on Yorkshire.

I haven't a clue what the wife puts into the tea bag pot but it know we make 2 mugs of tea from each bag (flat)

Can't stand the taste of tea bags. Proper tea (JS Gold Label usually, but not always available) brewed in a pre-warmed tea pot and poured through a tea strainer. Loose Yorkshire tea is very variable in quality I find.

We've used the PG Tips pyramid bag for years and used to buy 3 x 240 at Farm Foods when on offer. When they disappeared from the shelves a year ago I read that they had to comply with new eco rules and, as said above, couldn't get the new material used in the bags to stay in one piece. We're on Tetley at the minute but bought a large bag of the new PG last week but yet to try them.

We buy Yorkshire Tea in 1040 bags. They certainly don't last us a year.

Geoff

We two Yorkshire tea in 1040 bags at a time aswell, one for home and one for the motorhome. They don’t last quite a year either.
