It's worth noting that the youtuber Gadget John just had a crank fail, and has a video of the inside of the Boxer engine showing the combination cam chain and belt in last week.
In his case he had a catastrophic failure inside his Boxer engine of the the metal of the shaft itself and not a belt or chain failure, showing just replacing belts doesn't mean you won't have a failure of another part!
