Hello all, we went touring around France and Spain for six weeks late last year and really enjoyed our trip so much so that we are going back again in April for about the same amount of time and then again late in the year for winter. Can anybody answer this? We have a dog and the health certificate is stupid money every time we go, not able to get a pet passport in UK since, dare I mention it, Brexit can we get a Pet Passport whilst we are in France or do we need a European address, so we don't have to keep forking out for every trip. Any thoughts or tips please, not about Brexit though.

Very simply yes. We got ours in Portugal and they used the campsite address 2 x passports with 3 years rabies jab €110.
plenty of vets in Spain now doing this.

There are quite a few threads about this. In Spain Murcia and north will do 3 year rabies jabs whereas those south and south east of Murcia do 1 year jabs. We are going to a vet in La Zenia that Minxy went to. Despite the admin charge we should pay EURO 50 odd for a PP and 3 year Rabies jab.

Given the best value AHC from Abbeywell is £99 the PP as above is good value. We will give our son address in Spain but as we understand it a campsite address is quite adequate.

you are unlikely ( but not impossible ) to get a pet passport in France, however; Germany, Belgium, Spain and Portugal are all very doable.

I'm a bit confused with this? Are you saying that some vets in Murcia region will give 3 year jabs? If so they are totally illegal & you'd need to be wary as the law in the Murcia region is a mandatory 1 year rabies vaccinations for all dogs ,cats & ferrets.

Not to hijack. Anyone know of a vet that will do the pet passport along the east side of France? Heading to Annecy and Castellane via Reims etc in June....

None in France but a small diversion into Belgium will get you one in Mons

Thanks. I'll google away. I have a visit planned to the Irish Triptych memorial at le Pilly along the orderly retreat path from Mons in 1914. My wife's granny's eldest brother has no known grave after they were wiped out in the battle there.

Here is her website She speaks English. I emailed and made appointment. She will need to administer a rabies jab to enter on the passport but it is a 3 year one. Don’t worry if your dog is not due one as it is not a problem for dogs to have extra jabs.
If you return to UK within 21 days, make sure returning worming vet enters in both the PP and the AHC you use to go out.

Perhaps it is me - as perhaps La Zenia is just over the border?

Always worth a visit to the memorials. My uncle (Mum’s eldest brother) also has no known grave. Killed on the Somme. She was never able to visit herself. I like to take some of the little wooden crosses you can get online and write name and dates on and leave below the plaque.
Don’t forget to sign the visitor’s book which will be in a cubbyhole in the gatepost somewhere.

I got one for my dog in Laon but that was 2 years ago, so things may have changed but may be worth asking them. See this thread for details:

Where in Portugal did you get this done? We are heading to Portugal in May and would like to get EU passports for both of our dogs too.
Thanks, Garry.

We got ours done in Portugal, 3 dogs PPs for €75 in total (no jabs needed as they copied them from our AHC):

Thanks. I have emailed her to ask exactly what I need to have with me in addition to the AHC I will use to get into UK.

And of course how much. 😀

Yes. We have been many times to see my Grandad's cousins who never came back from France. One killed in 1914 near Armentieres. Chilling for Mrs Moto to see her initial and surname on the gravestone.

The other killed on the Somme in July 1916. Until COVID I went every year to place a poppy cross on his grave in Corbie.

Such as waste.
