I remember previously reading quite a few years ago that blue ink had to be used and indeed all the previous entries are in blue ink.
Our dog had his rabies booster this week and I have just noticed that the vet used black ink.
However, I can find nothing in any current documentation to say that black ink can't be used.
Perhaps the rules were changed at some point.
Has anyone else got a pet passport where black ink has been used?
If so, did it cause any issues?

Most formal documents in the UK require blank ink be used.

Interesting if blue is mandated in the EU for pet passports, although I can think of no reason why that would be the case!

Blue ink used to be a requirement but in the most recent 'How to Complete Pet Passports' booklet issued by APHA (Aug 2020, so shortly before Br*x*t), it states that any colour ink can be used.

This is also stated in the current DAERA (Northern Ireland) version.

Thank you.

At one time I think there was a requirement for certain entries to be in blue rather than black to avoid photocopied documents, not just Pet Passports.
Perhaps with better photocopiers and the ability to photocopy in colour it was decided it was pointless.
Just a guess on my part.

There was a long standing requirement for all official veterinary certificates to be completed/signed in " a colour other than black". In the days prior to good quality colour coping this was an attempt to make it more difficult produce fakes or duplicates. That has since been dropped but to the very end I always signed mine in " a colour other than black", and still twitch a bit when DLVA or some such asks me to sign an official form in black

I always insisted our checklists were completed in blue ballpoint pen, so you could tell what was original and what was a copy.

Nowadays they are all on screen, but we still use a different colour to distinguish between what is on the template, and what has been written in.

Just checked Beau's pet passport & all entries, barring her last worming tablet, are made in black ink.
Never had a problem at either Eurotunnel check in since it was issued, 3 years ago.
