Parking in Cambridge

Why dont you stop at the Camping and caravan club site, 20 minutes walk to the city/ on bus route.

It may be worth contacting them or the City Council to ask for advice.
I hope they would be better than Chelmsford council who when I contacted them by email ,& recieved a contact number, failed to reply .A second one elicited the same response. Two further emails enquiring about the first two also fell upon deaf ears.
Formal complaints made, eventally received the response that " at the time staff had been instructed to ignore any emails, phone calls asking where motoromes could be parked " as the senior staff assumed it was Itinerants enquiring.
That was the reply .Not even a " sorry" or a an apology.

Trumpington was fine for us, daughter studying there and so we visited for 2-3 days. We parked there through the day and the guys advised us to park just outside next to a bus if we wanted to stay the night, they were very helpful as they knew we wanted to go for an evening meal with our daughter. Then we just drove in the next morning and paid for parking. They actually said we could have parked over night in the actual parking but due to a recent problem with Gypsy's they dare not take the chance due to council checks

If a failure to reply to an information request ever happens to you (or any other Funster) again, point out that the Freedom of Information Act does not allow written requests for information (which includes emails) to be ignored - and that any chief officer instructing that they be ignored could find themselves the subject of criminal proceedings by the Information Commissioner.
A similar thing happened to me (a Welsh council) when I ran my web site). They only did it once

Cambridge park and ride at Trumpington , south Cambridge take motorhomes. I’ve used it myself. There’s a slip road for larger vehicles signposted when you get there.
Phil
I second that. Used it. V convenient.

I am talking about station road by mace stores, where the guided bus stops it’s £4 into the city from there.
OK but that too is a busy area. Down the side of The Station pub is a possibility if waiting restrictions haven't been increased recently.

Can any funsters advise on parking in Cambridge as I believe that the P&R are all height restricted.
The Trumpington Park & Ride still permits Motorhomes, though there are no longer any dedicated camper van spaces. You access it off the Hauxton Road entrance and follow signs for delivery/ goods vehicles - that takes you to a barrier with an intercom. Staff at P&R do answer the phone are are helpful.

This a great spot for Cambridge
Quiet and safe

We have stayed in cambridge couple of times by the river, p4n shows 2 one either side of the water we stayed next to the country park no restrictions enough room for 6 or more vans, 15 min walk along the river to the centre. A quiet and feels safe kind of place, would definitely stay again when visiting

Ok for the weekend but it's busy with business traffic weekdays. Also within earshot of the A14 which never sleeps.
