Evening all, I am starting to think about August. We have a ferry-Dover/Calais booked for the Sunday 14th. Our 11 year old desperately wants to go to Paris and in the interests of keeping him interested in the motorhome, we want to be able to do this. Our aim is to finally arrive in Chenas outside Macon on the 22nd.
Any recommendations from the Fun experts will be greatly received!!

We stayed at Huttopia in Versaille recently good facilities but some pitches could be a but more level in places.

Short walk to RER station line C and at the Eifel Tower in 23 minutes.
That's the one we stayed at (y)

When full timing we ended up on the coast on an August Bank Holiday - we hadn’t realised. Went into a campsite reception & she said “Un placement! Non! “ in a voice that distinctly said “stupid British tourists!”. The French do disdain so well!

We are not doing the coast...we are heading to Macon because my friend has a vineyard in Chenas. I personally wouldn't bother with Paris but Adam wants to go.

We had 3 days and 2 nights in Paris - it was a fantastic trip. We stayed here and took the bus and metro into the centre.

Aim to go up the Eiffel Tower about an hour before dusk and enjoy watching the sun set and the lights come on.

Loads to see and do but don't aim to do too much at once - it can be overwhelming.
Just followed your link and looked for two nights beginning of August as we too are thinking of calling at Euro Disney.

We stayed here https://www.camping-jablines.com/campsite-france-paris.html last time we went euro Disney- the bus stop outside took you to Disney but we went in van anyway so didn’t have to worry about timings. May not be as convenient for rest of Paris though but lots to do on site if you want it.
Excellent security at night. Not gagging to go back but was OK for what we needed.

I wonder how far/easy it would be to get to Paris from there...train??

I think your choice is sound, Grasmere9. It is hard to find Motorhome accomodation anywhere that well served and that close to a major capital city. As has been said it is so easy to get to the centre using their shuttle bus to Porte Maillot and beyond into the city. Of course it is expensive, but as always there is a trade off between benefits and cost. And all this from somebody who doesn't use campsites!

If you compare the cost with other ways of taking a family to Paris…

Look across the river and you will see the unattractive skyline of Suresnes. It conceals a nice market, and a few bars - a short walk away.

It is outside the Periphique, so you may not have to worry about the LEZ; You should check though, I haven't been there since Covid.

I'm sure you will enjoy it.

When we were a there in 2019 we paid something like €130. We didn't pay a booking fee or if we did, it was only a couple of €. We didn't need electricity or pay an extra tent or have an animal with us. There were 4 of us (2 adults and 2 kids).

Strongly recommend camp site at MAISONS-LAFFITTE right on the river Seine and about 500 yds from the RER “ tube “ station of same name : a few stops west of Paris centre . This is a very pleasant residential suburb .

We caught the train (couple of minute's walk from Eurodisney) into the Gare de Lyon in central Paris, think it took about half an hour.

Camping de Paris was the best place for us to stay, there were 4 adults and 2 kids, was abit expensive, but so close to every thing, Bus service right out side the gates which takes you to the train station, and from there, nothing is far, if you have bikes, then can you ride though the park, web site is https://www.campingparis.fr/

We have stayed at Camping de Paris near the Bois de Boulonge a couple of times. They run a shuttle bus to Port Maillot metro station where you can either get on the metro or walk to the Arc de Triomphe. From the Arc de Triomphe you can get a tourist bus to take you round Paris and you can get on and off at your leisure.

I would echo that, Bus stop at the campsite gate, get the bus back from where you get off, short walk to the Tower, maybe 5-10 mins.
