I havev read the importing a van posts with interest as we are planning on doing so next year (from Germany) it will be used just wondering what the part ex situation is with our current van, it's a left hooked so should have a market back in it's birthplace, is there any certs/ paperwork german dealers would require apart from the normal stuff V5 mot etc ?

Since 2008 & many years tugging
NOVA notification who ever imported it would have it.
I only mentioned it because the Belgium dealer we were using asked for it. But we had bought the van off him so he knew it had been paid.

Shouldn't be a problem as you can't register a van in the UK without the vat being paid.

We are going to ring around a few carthago dealers here when we are ready and if it's a acceptable price to us we will sell here but I suspect a 2007 left hooker here will have a limited market at 5200kg...we will try it on here too ofc.

My understanding having talked to dealers at Caravan Salon this year.

They aren't interested in taking UK vehicles (even those that were Euro sourced and LHD), as they will suffer local vat as a minimum e.g. Germany 19%.

Everyone I spoke to recommended selling within the UK.

Can't see it being worth less here than in Germany.

Thanks that's useful info. The plan was to call/email a few with our vans specs and pics etc so will see what they say but we will definitely have to plan for a uk sale too.

You may have a good point there it will be interesting to see if there is any difference, I did the "assumed" thing it being old and left hand drive.

There's people in the UK looking for old and lhd , whereas in Germany there are loads of old lhd vans .
