Sorry for the thread hijack but my Caro unit has just raised and gone into fault with 'Y motor blocked'.
Is this going to be an easy fix?
Thanks in advance

No problem DW,

With the Caro there could be multiple reasons for this problem.
Have you had any work done to the Caro recently or had it moved or cables unplugged for any reason??

No nothing at all has been done to it. It was fine a couple of weeks ago and today when switching on it displayed 'open' but nothing happened. I reset the MH power supply and it lifted then turned then stopped and displayed the fault. I have loosened the 13mm bolt to retract as it would not lower once it rotated to the park position.
The display says 'init error '
I have unplugged the control box plugs and refitted but access to the roof will have to wait till Sunday as I have no ladder here.
It was difficult enough reaching the retract bolt through the roof vent.

Ok, right the main problem we see with Caro systems is a fault that develops over time with the internal wiring loom within the top unit. If it's an older Caro (over 6 years) then the wiring harness does not have any protective covering around it and becomes brittle before starting to crack. When that happens moisture will get inside and can cause shorts to the connections within the unit causing the problem you are experiencing. Unfortunately it's a tricky repair that I would recommend having carried out here or by a dealer rather than attempting yourself.
We have the cables in stock so please contact the office if you'd like to place an order or to find a dealer nearby who can do the work for you although please make sure you have the fault verified first as it's a big job labour wise. Around 2 hours minimum.

Thanks, the unit is about 4 years old and has a really thick black cable loom of about 15mm diameter.
I assume undoing the mounting screws for the unit should give a visual of the connections just to see if there is any obvious corrosion of the wiring connections?
We have recently had some really wet weather that could have worked it's way into the base.
The only thing that puts me off using the dealer is that their 'electrical guru' couldn't diagnose a faulty awning light poor connection in 4 visits! I ended up finding a loose crimp connection on the feed cable.

It could be something simple like that yes but you'll only know once you lift the unit off the base plate.
There are four 13mm bolts holding the unit down to the plate and once you remove that there are four phillips head screws you will have to remove to get to the cable connections.

We are finished for the weekend now but if you would like us to look at the system or would like to book in or would just like any further advice please reply on here or email me directly at anthony@oystersat-tech.co.uk

Thank you Anthony, I will check after the weekend to see if it's something I can find and fix. I will get booked in if I cannot see anything obvious.
