Overweight-what to lose

has anyone actually been stopped in the UK and had the van weighed? Just asking .....
Yup.

Some years ago, Northbound on the M1 in a LWB Merc Sprinter loaded with a Roadcrew and half the Bands equipment.
Police pulled us over, said follow us to a weighbridge, which was miles after the exit we should have taken.

Whilst en-route, we dumped all the drinks out of the window, including at least two slabs of beer, we also redistributed the weight internally, by the time we arrived (having used at least another gallon of fuel) we were 7kg overweight, which they allowed us off with.

We blamed it all on one particularly large and fat Roadie, he suffered the ignominy of having to travel in the Lighting truck for the rest of the tour

If I were 300kgs over I would think about it carefully then ask the 4 illegals if they wouldnt mind awfully disembarking.
Those illegals tend to be pretty skinny. You've probably missed a couple;)

No prize will be awarded for saying "the spouse". Semi-serious question, if you were stuck in a lay-by 100mls from home how would you lose a couple of hundred kilos?
You could do what my mate did.Rang a local cab firm loaded it all in that .
I had my MH weighed the other day and was very surprised to find I was 3513KG (need to be under 3500KG). So to be fully-serious, if you or me had an accident and some one was injured or god help us killed and we were overweight we have a life changing situation. If you kill someone doing 40mph in a 30 limit its an issue, so is being overweight. Now I don't want to take the Fun out of MHF but I think we need to make sure we are within weight or up plate.

So just to lighten up this post, I took out two excess leisure batteries, removed the awning, took out 24 litres of bottled water, removed my apocalyptic survival things, like two jacks, and lost about 250 or 300Kg.

Just my opinion you understand.
Off topic but I see the wife-carriers are due to be the first using the new Digital vaccination certificates from the EU(y)
And what about weighbridge tolerances +/- 110kg on a plate, +/- 150kg per axle on a Dynamic.
Be safe travel 300 kg under like we do.
the plate is only that +/- if a multiplate.if a single plate it is 50kgs.

As said most of the regulations apply to commercials & to be prosecuted needs a weighbridge certified "Legal for Trade" . you need a large area to ensure compliance with the levelling of the ground requirements. Most builders wouldn't compy. One I used in Devon with a ramp up either end certainly isn't.

said follow us to a weighbridge, which was miles after the exit we should have taken.
Over 5 miles you can claim all your expenses.

Seriously...empty the tanks. Get the bikes out and the dog trailer. Put the dog in the trailer and the wife on her bike. Tell her to meet me back home.
