Overnight stay on the way to Scotland.

Caton CL, Lancaster. Fuel, pub. Coop, but no facilities other than waste and water.

Metal bridge Inn looks noisy sandwiched between the M6 and the West Coast mainline
We’ve used it and didn’t notice any noise during the night. We had had a couple though.

Have to confess that I find the background rumble of motorway traffic some what soothing.🚗🚲🚚🚛🚙

Hopefully you have somewhere booked now. We are going up in May also from Dorset. I have booked in at Thacka lea in Penrith.

Hi, stayed at Thaka Lea last summer. Very clean place, nice people, just a short walk from Penrith centre. if you have time the museum is worth a visit.

Another vote for Moffat. 5 minute walk into town with some reasonable pubs/restaurants.
We used to use Moffat on our way to the Highlands, but now they have a minimum of 2 nights it's no good to us as a stopover now. :(
Gave up our 'friendly club' membership as a result.

We used to use the Green Frog at Moffat which is almost next door to the campsite but they have increased their prices to prices well above their status in my opinion. I used to be a simple 'Aire' at a reasonable price with the possibility of breakfast if required.

I live just round the corner from Thacka Lea looks nice and clean but obviously too close for me to stay. Going to Scotland at Easter so staying the first night at Metal Bridge as not setting off till late afternoon, often go there for lunch, very friendly and good food.

My halfway stop is thacka lea coming from Bournemouth, good to hear it looks nice.
