We’re going via Dover In early September as we can’t get on the Hull ferry on the date we want, we haven’t sailed from Dover for about 10 years. We plan to travel down on the Wednesday night so need somewhere to stay near the port, anyone got any recommendations?
We catch the 10am ferry so need to be within 1 hour of port.

Thanks for the replies, I assume it’s the one in the photo that says Canterbury P&R as these 3 come up when I search

Thankfully we’re coming back via Rotterdam so miss the long drive on this side

I'm here at Cantebury P&R (new Dover road) now. Soon to be on my way to the Norfolk motorhome show. Approx 17 miles from Dover. Payment also includes bus into town (return).

I read on CamperContact that they close the entrance to Canterbury P&R at 9.30pm, can anyone confirm if this is still the case or does it now have 24h access?

It is now anpr 24hr access ,you take a ticket and pay on exit , automatic barriers so no 9.30 cut off ,in fact its not been 9.30 for years.

Cracking, I know where I'll be parking after the ferry, £8 seems a no brainer👍

Over 70 vans there the weekend
Blimey, quite popular then, seeing that they'll mostly be gone early in the morning I presume you just park anywhere if there are that many vans?
We are looking at end of October so I should imagine it would be quite quiet.

There are 2 main parking areas on the left as you go in and to the right
but there were 28 in main car park at weekend and it’s not just an overnight stop with the free bus into town which is the main kent terminal a lot of people tour Kent on the buses.

(Prices based per night)
Adult (age 16+)- £12

no EHU or showers... I think it's a bit pricey for a basic site ...
I believe showers have been installed and fair play if its not for you.

Maybe not bad value for a solo traveller in high season. I did notice early this year that solo on a non-EHU pitch at Canterbury CCC was actually slightly less than a night at the P+R.

We stayed here in May, very quiet and great for the dogs, only a short drive to Dover port.

We're over 3500 too as were some others, no lights on at all ... there are street lights.

For a nice quiet site use Fir Tree Campsite, Rhodes Minnis (20.00) close to Tunnel. 01303862155, don't know if this helps for Boat

Look at app JustPark: sources available spaces and prices - bookable. I am looking at overnighting near Chunnel for early start at Sainsbury car park, Folkestone...for silly money! Folkestone not too far from Dover.

We used the P&R and would recommend it.
