Thanks. Yes I grew up on the Wirral so very familiar with Chester. Have actually parked in this car park many times but never ventured home in a MH.

26 posts and nobody has mentioned the alleged threat of GASSING and ROBBERY!!!!

Hahahahahaha, as a forum newbie I was holding off on asking about the whole gassing thing for a bit, not too worried as it seems a little far fetched. I’ll keep alert for any 60s Batman TV show style green gas coming through my vents though!

and go all night and beware of fridge wagons as the noise can be constant .
Hi.
And the driver of the Fridge van, will only wake up when it....Stops...(y)(y)(y)(y)

We were thinking about Chester Service Station as it’s only 10 minutes or so from my family where they’re happy to let us stay on their driveway, we just didn’t want to disturb them (and their young family) by turning up in the van so late.

I have seen MHs down on the front at New Brighton, is that allowed?
Littil rode carpark 1.80 I think for the night

I've stopped overnight at motorway services 3 times in the UK.
Yes, you do have to pay, but it's cheaper than coming off your route and driving to a CL then paying site fees too. Added bonus is you can arrive when you like. On each occasion I've arrived late evening/ very early morning. The only frustrating bit is setting yourself up with the 'paybyphone' app which some of them use at 1am with a dodgy 3g signal!!
I think that technically you shouldn't use gas on the service area so it could be chilly at this time of year. Doesn't seem to be a problem on French motorway aires (but you'll get GASSED and ROBBED!!!)

Hey,

I’ve only just read that some UK service stations allow you to stay overnight in your MH. We’re thinking of doing it this Friday rather than try to find a site somewhere we can turn up late to when we drive up north after work, has anyone done it? Any tips?

Obviously not looking for any facilities, just literally somewhere to pull up when it gets too late, sleep and set off again first thing.

Rich

This one isn't much help to you but, might help others & be a handy one to keep in mind.
When travelling southbound on the M6 Cumbria, Tebay southbound is superb for an overnight, you enter the car park the normal way but keep left before the main car park, then up into a cracking little spot which is away from the hubbub.
I'm not sure about any charges though.
I have bunked down in the car on this wee carpark when I've been tired & no-one disturbed me & I occasionally see motorhomes in there too.
Its a good spot to let the dogs stretch their wee leggies & a loo break.
That car park is still just a very short stroll to the facilities
You obviously still hear the motorway traffic but, your far enough away behind the trees etc that the noise is negligible.

Robert.

Don’t worry, it only happens in France ....:)

But whatever you do don’t park next to one of these....:D2

Search for Sites shows the Little Roodee park and another at Nantwich by the river if you are travelling from the M6 towards the Wirral. I've used the Chester site a number of times without problem but never the Nantwich one.

Have diesel heating in the Chausson so should be ok on that front (and competing with neighbours on the noise front!)
