We were at the Norfolk show last week and got talking to other campers (as you do) One of them had a large motorhome and he said that he was having to sell it because a new law had come out that said that anyone over 80 could not drive anything over three and a half ton van. I said that I am 81 and took a medical to retain my C1 licence . He said that it was no longer valid and he had checked that on the DVLA site but could not find it when I asked.
So please could someone put my mind at rest, or into a state of depression. One small silver lining (I think) if this is true is that my van was originally three and a half but has been uprated to 3.8 something, so could I have it downrated back to three and a half ? I love my 2003 Fiat Ducato Autotrail Cheyenne 696 and would hate to loose it.
Oh, this time I was not parked with the funsters I was with the Blue badge people (Sorry)

I think this is all part of the current scare stories doing the rounds about medicals for everyone. There is pressure to be a bit more careful about self assessment when renewing licenses but C1 over 70 is the same as ever, medical etc.

Hi, Phil, I bought an Autotrail Cheyenne 634 which was rated at 3.8 t, dealer got it downplayed to 3.5 .
It was 3.8 from new.
Cheers, Dave

Thank you all for your answers, they have put my mind at rest. The way the world is going now you never know what is true any more, or what new restrictions will be imposed on us.
