So have a 2020 Roler Team 707 and it was registered in the year when the govt decided to add road fund tax to any vehicle over 40k in purchase price
Its over £500 a year

So did I read somewhere that you can get it re classified as the govt stopped it a couple of years later

Any advice appreciated

VED on EV's is being introduced in 2025. They will pay £10 for the first year if registered after 1st April 2025 then from year 2 will pay the same standard rate currently set at £180. If the EV is over £40K and registered after 1st April 2025 they will pay the same VED premium as ICE cars over the same value for the first 5 years.
It had to come, all those EV’s getting free VED, will it be retrospective do you know as looking at a Jaguar EV400 about 1-2yrs old and that could cloud the interest?

The higher VED premium on EVs only applies to new registrations after 1st April 2025 as far as I know. Can't think of any instance where VED has been applied retrospectively, it would be rather unfair, but I guess any government can do what they like as ultimately it is their decision not ours. But I think that the £180 would apply to the Jag after 1st April 2025 as it was registered between 1st April 2017 and 31 March 2025, assuming of course that thats the VED rate at that point in time which to be honest is extremely unlikely.

Thanks, I had guessed that something similar would apply to it in time, I appreciate your thoughts on that. I’ve been out of the motor trade for over 10 years so don’t get all the advanced info I used to 👍
