Other couldn’t half do with a takeaway!

Maybe a thread giving your take-away style recipes away for inspiration?
(waiting for someone to tell me there is one now :) )

I do a mean shish kebab with homemade flat bread and a chilli sauce that is lethal
Also a pretty good fried chicken, a slow cooked Chicken Tikka Masala and a slow cooked Beef Madras for the brave :)

Also a few quick Tapas dishes.
Any chance of the recipe for the fried chicken please. I will have to substitute the Garlic if there is any in it as I am allergic to it but onions are ok?

Wissel,
We have Sainsburys delivering in the morning I suggest you stay off line until Saturday as SWMBO will be put out that I've added buttermilk, french fries and sun flower oil to the order, But the Amazon order for a deep fat fryer will really do it, thats coming on Friday.... this is going to hurt!!

Smug git here! used to live as a child way up on the moors of Saddleworth( yes THOSE moors) and we had a siege mentality ! We would often in the 1950, and 60's be snowed in for upto 10 weeks at at time! So Mum always used to plan meals about three months in advance, we had an Uncle who was on the management at Heinz in Kitt Green(Wigan) and used ti get dessicated veg in blocks that only need water to re conatuites
We called it dehydrated..BUSBY.

Lots of pubs and restaurants (and take aways) are doing a delivery service. Diversification in order to remain in business. No different than delivery drivers delivering to shops.

Yes, the options have narrowed a bit but still available
Options certainly not narrowed here. Local restaurants have started doing takeaways to keep their business going. Admittedly only restricted hours but we could get a full roast beef dinner on Sunday for £6.50. Won’t need to as we also have the choice of having meat delivered by our village butcher or game delivered by a local farm shop. Our freezer is stocked with venison and wild boar. Also looking at getting milk delivered by a local farm business.

Had egg and chips yesterday. Zillions since I had that, and with a big splog of brown sauce, 'twas luverly. :gum:

oooooo I’m gonna have that today, with a slice of freshly cooked gammon! Lovely, but of tomato sauce, couple of slices of bread for a chip butty! Oooooooo. My mouths watering!! X

I am amazed that you can still get takeaways. What sort of a lock-down is that?

One that does not really work.

The roads are still 'sunday' busy
The tube is running a sunday service with trains every 5 mins
Trains are still going
Anywhere that sells food or booze is open, if only for takeaways.
The big hardware sheds are open on a click and collect basis
I think if I wanted to travel the length of the UK via public transport I could do it
I could certainly drive it, even if they are are stopping occasional motorhomes
Most offices in London still seem to be working on a skeleton staff basis, with people working from home.

In other words, the UK is treating it like when we have 2" of snow when everything grinds to a crawl, but still works

Guess what we’re having for tea, gammon, chips and duck eggs!

Reading this thread reminded me that I had a book that folks used to recommend years ago on the MSE website as it was cheaper to make your own.
Might have a look through & see what I've got in stock? the ones I tried in the past were good.

Did the salt and pepper chicken, wasn’t too bad.

I find it really easy despite the shops having no stock.

Last night we had ink cartridge casserole and a 4 pack of socks.

But......
Try that with med. Rare inkjet paper......mmmmm

Rose has done some pie making .And a really nice bread pudding. But she does make most of her own meals. But as a special just for me. As I am a very old ex trucker. I got sausage egg and chips. One of the only meals we could get in the old days. Now not allowed .

We had a takeaway themed week...where Helen made some of the following...chicken burger and fries like KFC...Donner Kebab...like ya take away...homemade pizza.. not even comparing it to a takeaway..burger and chips...and one night chinese dumplings. Just a thought to attempt ya own if you are able and have the ingredients... ?made me happy as also missing a takeaway on a Friday
