Just started motorhoming after years and years of caravanning. Loving that we feel able to get out and about all year round, which we didn't tend to do before. Caravan went into storage in November, came out again in March! Out of interest during the colder months, what do you find to be the best temperature to have the van at overnight. I had the thermostat at 15°, outside dropped to 1° and I noticed the wall by my bed was a little condensed this morning but dried quickly.
We have a cover for the windscreen etc which has been a revelation.
Any thoughts?

Never use heat at night, and certainly wouldn’t heat to 12 degrees. It’s been that here today at its highest, and I’ve only been in a T-shirt.

Hmm.. Do you guys like those 12 degree temperatures (specially getting up from the bed in the morning) or are you saving money?

I know sleeping is better at slightly lower temperature but 12 sounds a bit .. more than slightly low. Once I ran out of gas (bottle, had to change) at -15c and I think it was something like +10 inside when I finally understood there's something wrong and got up from the bed, and it felt damn cold.

Where did you fix your heater fuel tank please? Just concerned re deisel smells etc.. (y)
Thinking of installing an underslung heater .
You should be able to use the vehicles diesel tank most heater retailers supply a pipe to fit in the sender unit.

Thanks, yes I watched a YouTube vid that fitted the off take pipe in the vent pipe .looked very straightforward with a smaller diameter pipe that was around £8 .access was via the inside of a cover via the passenger seat.removing the vent pipe and drilling a suitable hole and sealing with epoxy. Thanks for that, someone had a deisel heater that contained the fuel tank,5 litres, sort of portable, that he kept in his garage until it was used and then placed it under his van and just plugged in the 12v and the blown air duct.
I had thought of a deisel heater prior but all the storage space in the 175 is internal and I didnt fancy the idea of having deisel inside the van.
I did see a good YouTube vid where the fuel takeoff had been done through the main deisel tank vent outlet utilising a narrower bore take off tube.
So lots of different ideas to consider.

My Eberspacher on my Murvi is fitted externally underfloor, uses the vehicle fuel and can heat the air/habitation water which, incidentally, is also heated by the engine while travelling.
I also had a similar setup, using a Webasto, on my Coaches.

You can buy a Eberspacher & kit which supplies everything.

Just remember not to have the new tube at or lower than the engine feed pipe, if you do the heater could end up running your tank dry before you get to a fuel station😱

That's interesting, all of mine have been pump fed and no fuel runs unless the pump is working, I thought??

IF I can find it, at the back of my garage in a box, I have an old mini-bus one, never been used, that I will bring to the Holbeach Bring & Buy and priced to sell.

My eberspacher has a pick up pipe from the main fuel tank, so no need for a second tank. The pipe doesn’t go to the base of the tank so there’s no chance of stranding yourself! The heater uses minimal fuel and makes very little difference to my mpg calcs.
Unless it’s freezing weather I don’t have the heater on overnight. I sleep under a wool duvet and turn the heater on when I wake up. It’s set for 18 but I often turn it off before it gets to that point as by then I’ve washed, dressed etc.

We have an Eberspacher Combitronic system that runs on the vehicle fuel. Very efficient and we love it. We don't have it on overnight, but our control panel has a timer so we can set on and off times, just like at home. We normally get up at 8 am when on holiday (better than the 6:30 am I normally rise 7/7!) and set it to come on at 7:30 am. Usually at 20 deg. We never have heating on overnight, but we do sometimes have it of a bit later. But only when I am on a promise! :inlove::hugs::pray:
