Hi all not trying to scaremonger but maybe worth checking fresh water tank brackets
Pulled into our local camping and caravan club site yesterday afternoon
Raining as seems usual these days
After filling up with water started to head for our pitch
Suddenly awful noise from under the van sounding like Iā€™d run over a traffic cone
Stopped immediately to check out what was going on
To my horror one side of the water tank was now on the tarmac
long story short the bracket holding the tank to the van had snapped because it had
Rusted through
Managed to empty the tank and remove it from underneath the van with the help
Of a site warden (superstar)
I never travel with water in the tank but this could have been so much worse had
We been travelling at speed would probably of lost the rear valance šŸ˜±
Not suggesting this a problem with all these vans but maybe worth a check
Our van is a 2008 Autotrail Apache 700

Hi all just wanted to post a few pictures of the fresh water tank brackets
Iā€™m of the opinion that they simply rotted away due to the build up
of water and grime including a mouse nest in the plastic belly pan that protects the tank from stones and
Other debris that can be thrown up and hit the tank
Whilst there are drain holes in belly pan Iā€™m pretty certain that they were just not able to
do there job
The following pics are after I cleaned the belly pan and as you can see thereā€™s not much
Left of the brackets
In all honesty I think Iā€™ve had a result just imagine the carnage if that tank fell out on the motorway

This is the result of poor maintenance you need to check not just the top but also underneath there added extras that we carry underneath the vans they won't stay there forever you need to check and maintain
