I remember Mars bars were a tanner, Milky Ways 3d, Black Jacks and Fruit Salad 4 for 1d, Chewing gum machines that dispensed two packets every 4th turn, chips and peas mix 6d, a pint of bitter was 1s 3d,
choc ices were 6d, wrigleys gum 6d, a packet, penny arrow bars, chewing wood does anybody remember that, Tiger nuts:):):):):):):):)

I broke into my old Lloyds bank savings box(piggy bank) and got out 2 shillings worth of SILVER thruppences I could not get them out when I was a kid but nowadays I am more ingenious than then, do not know if they are more valuable now than then.

He used to casually drive into his local Jet station and ask for a gallon of 4 star (big spender)........from memory he thinks this cost around 2/11 d ....... those were the days, he had a full head of hair back then as well(y)

I well remember my then girl friend and I going on a bus to the Odean to see Barberella .. After we left, into Wimpy's for burger chips and a milk shake ( and it WAS milk back then ) and then the bus home.. Just got change of ten bob !!

Gong back further.. crisps ( with the blue bag of salt ) 3d, loaf of bread 5d, pint of milk was about 6d

I still remember seeing a new house ( BIG for the day.. 3 bedroom ) go up for sale with a big banner on it.. £500

I will qualify the above with my wages ( gap year and all that jazz.. which turned out to be somewhat longer ! )

I worked for DER as a television engineer ( and nooo.. not a bottle jockey but a proper, component level engineer ) .. My take home was £5.18.6d
