Oh no! That just happened!

Just found this by accident , interesting

ALDE HEATING

Avoid steriliser products containing sodium hyperchlorite, for example, as these will cause severe corrosion damage to the hot water cylinder, and is not covered under warranty. Read the product label or contact the product manufacturer for details
Which is why I don't add any sterilising agent to the water, as the advice from Truma is the same, due to the stainless steel tank in the boiler.

Re the Naturepure debacle, which we were also was subjected to, it was because the units were being sold with a scale reduction filter, and not the bacterial filter that we all thought we had purchased, thereby by being hoodwinked into thinking we had the best protection.
We have stuck with it, and now with the correct filters, and living in a hard water area and being a tea drinker, I can certainly say that the fitting of the bacterial filter not only makes the water taste better, but also leaves my tea without a calcium scum floating on the top, especially in southern Spain where the water is very chalky. :(

We too take the usual precautions as described by others, especially when there is only one fill tap.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

We all have vacations to help our immune system which is basically intentionally infecting our bodies with germs , A little bit of contamination helps to keep your immune system in good order , so I would never
be too annal about germs , the chemicals sprayed to disinfect may actually do your body more harm than the germs it’s trying to kill but obviously I wouldn’t deliberately use a contaminated hose

I am guessing you have never had the misfortune to be hospitalised due to ingestion of bacteria spread through poor hygiene then?

You’re rite I’ve never been hospitalised due to ingestion of bacteria spread through poor hygiene
Being a retired plumber , on many many occasions I’ve had human excrement on my cut hands
And quite a few times in my mouth , this has helped build up my immune system

I certainly wouldn’t wish illnesses on anyone

Ive just become a grandfather and I’m watching my grandchild getting injected with germs to keep her healthy , all I’m saying is being exposed to germs is all part of life

I once worked on a sewerage lorry , down blocked chambers and all sorts, then we would eat our sandwiches in the cab among our overalls and wellies, can't remember anyone being ill through it.

Noooo. My son was in intensive care for 3 weeks directly related to fetal contamination - supermarket open salad bar. There is bacteria and there is other stuff so do not under estimate then potential issue.

Both Martin and I have had norovirus, I have also suffered campylobacter, which the specialists think was responsible for triggering my auto-immune disease., Martin has had an e-coli infection and brother-in-law is very ill (ICU) having suffered a salmonella infection. All through poor hygiene.

Is Scotland that dangerous?

We have a decent water filter fitted however, I always take any hose or fittings off the tap, wipe with bacterial wipe, fit own hose and run for a minimum of 40 secs; worked for us so far other than glowing green in the dark :D
We do the same!

We have motorhomed all over Europe for the last 30 years or so without any problems. We also sterilise the fresh water tank twice a year, but not when we are away.

So far, so good.
