Ogo Composting toilet

I dunno mate. 🤷‍♂️ Like I say though, if I had my own composting heap that’s what I would do but, we are full time so makes it bit hard to do. It’s just a nice thought that’s all. Still, at least no chemicals will be involved, so all natural that way.
Never used any chemicals in my cassettes, always had SOG's so not necessary.

Well when your out in the bush, I think the nearest tree or bush would suffice👍 After all, it’s what I would do if out fishing or on a long walk for instance.

If it was a campsite, well the elsan is as good a place as any. 😊
Difference is that the fluid is deposited in smaller amounts not in several gallons all at once (unless you've been out on the p*ss (pun intended!).

For off griders I can see why it appeals. I think you’ll get at least 10 days before emptying with a system like the one mentioned by the op, against maybe 3/4 days if your lucky with a conventional cassette. A better tool for the ‘jobbie’ in hand so to speak 🙈🙈🙈😆

Had a quick chat with a German PVC owner at the MH service point yesterday. He had a small blue coloured cassette for his loo, less capacity than even our smallish one consequently he was considering changing to a composting one but realised there were drawbacks with those too. He didn't want to carry a spare cassette but instead would be carrying more effluent instead.

At worse you’d be travelling around with one bag which would weigh if full about 4kg as a guesstimate, and it would essentially be of a compost consistency, so fairly dry, not liquid effluent like you’d get with a cassette. I’m sure a bin could be sourced during travel pretty quickly, so it’ll not be on board for too long.

Let’s face it…. Everyone knows it would take months for stuff to break down into compost and it isn’t going to happen in a small container. These compost toilets are just a fad for these enlightened people who think they are trendy and saving the planet from crap…. You can bet your bottom dollar that they get rid of it in a plastic bag as soon as no one’s watching….😎

I have thought about changing over to a "separating" toilet on our van a couple of times, but the cost for these loos along with the supposed advantages and practicalities just does not add up for me as much as I would want them to.

This is the last video I watched on the subject, and it was down to earth and excuse the pun, with no bullsh*t from tried and tested users in their van.
